Procession Led by the Paschal Candle
The church is dark before the liturgy begins.
The Paschal Candle is processed to in front of the Altar.
The presider remains standing in the gate to the sanctuary.
When the Altar candles are lit, they are lit from the Paschal candle.
Greeting:
Alleluia! Christ is risen:
The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

Blessing of the Light
Blessèd are you, O Lord our God,
time and eternity are yours
you bring the abundance of summer sunshine
into the harvest that sustains us in winter.
Let the resurrection of Christ
empower us to confront with confidence
all that threatens to diminish and destroy us
through Christ who is our victory and our joy,
and who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God,
in glory everlasting:
Blessèd be God for ever!

Let us declare our faith
in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
