Grading Procedures: Grade totals may not exceed 100% (Board Policy)

each chapter will have an end of chapter test and a verbal Vocab. Quiz. Dates will be announced.

Class participation – 50pts at midterm and 50pts at end of 6wks. Student have 50pts and can lose 5 a day for not participating or being prepared for class. This involves beginning bellwork promptly, staying awake, not being tardy, refusal to participated in an activity, or not having list of materials required each day in class.

Homework will be assigned a couple times a week. Homework typically will be reviewed the next day or so. Student is required to maintain an up to date homework notebook (HWNB) which requires questions and answers. HWNB’s will be taken up periodically and graded for correctness and completion. Notebooks should be up to date when asked for, no extensions. 1pt per question assigned.

Daily grades include any classroom assignment (worksheets, vocab words, quick writes, etc…). Also any projects will be included in this 20 percentile of your grade. Completed grade calculations worth 50pts due near the end of the 6wks also in included.

Student Work

Expectations:Be organized and be honest. Be precise and prompt when doing your work. All work should be neat, regardless. Late work will not be accepted without an excused absence. All make up work must be turned in within 3 days after the student returns to school. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for his/her make-up assignment when he/she returns to school. Any work that was assigned in advance (before the student was absent) is due the day the student returns to school.

Class Rules:“Do the wise thing”

1. Be prepared-notebook, textbook, pencil and pen and science journal

2. Food and drinks are not allowed in class

3. When teacher is lecturing or conducting class no talking or getting out of your seat (no distractions)

4. No cell phones or charging of cell phones (other electronics)

Procedures:Make sure you follow all the classroom procedures. This is the 7th rule. We will practice procedures the 1st week of class so everyone will know them. Procedures ensure the orderly and efficient functioning of the class and learning.

Be in your assigned seat when the tardy bell rings

Class discipline: Typically not a problem. Students should fulfill the expectations of the student role. Teacher will do the same. Classroom disruption will not be tolerated. Students should show respect to each other, the teacher and the learning system in place. If discipline issues occur they will be referred to school administration.
