EAST DISTRICT YOUTH GIRLS

TOURNAMENT FORMAT – 2014-2015

Each team should be accompanied by a member of staff who is prepared to umpire the sectional games. The umpires of the losing semi finalists being prepared to umpire the final. In the Senior KO Cup and the 1st X1 Tournament Umpires will be appointed by East Youth Committee.

Tournaments should be organised to obtain the maximum playing rime for ALL teams. This should be a Minimum of 3 sectional games (plus X-overs) or 60 minutes of playing time. The use of X-overs is to be recommended.

Tournaments will be played according to F.I.H. rules (including green cards carrying a minimum two minute suspension and the rules surrounding players if they break the line at a penalty corner – see attached document). As of 1/2/2014 the own goal rule no longer applies. The rule change that allows senior players to play the ball above shoulder level does not apply at any level of youth hockey.

In pool games when teams are playing one way only the umpires should umpire with their right shoulder towards their team’s defending goal. The length of games will be decided by the number of teams playing and the amount of time available and is at the discretion of the organizers.

Where there is a one off final such as a Cup or Plate then the game is played over two periods of a maximum of 30 minutes each way.

Scoring will be as follows:

WIN 3 POINTS

DRAW 1 POINTS

LOSE 0 POINTS

Pool placing will be decided by:-
