To book a place at one of the moderation meetings above please ensure you have a registered account at then email your name, school and role and preferred date and time/venue to

Please note that places are restricted at each meeting, therefore they will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Refreshments are available upon arrival approximately 15 minutes before the start time.

Practitionersshould bring along five profiles with evidence for all 17 ELGs and covering a range of attainment (emerging, expected, exceeding). This evidence will form the basis for discussion. Moderators will work with groups of practitioners to complete agreement trialling activities.

Theywill also ask about the following:

  • the characteristics of effective learning;
  • how and when the children are assessed;
  • who is involved in making assessments;
  • how assessments are recorded both on a day-to-day basis and in the longer term;
  • what evidence is normally collected;
  • Opportunities for talking to others about EYFSProfile judgements (internal moderation).

There will be a focus on:

  • Prime area of learning: Communication and language development
  • Specific area of learning: Mathematics

Please note that all moderators are Early Years Advisory Teachers or Early Years Teachers in Oxfordshire who have gone through a selection process and have participated in LA moderation training. They will have their identity badges should you wish to see them.
