The Judges
The book of Judges is quite difficult to interprite. Most sources say that it covers a time period of around 410 years, the sum of years mentioned in the book. However, "there are indications that the actvity of the Judges was often limited to some tribe or tribes, and that the chronology, which cannot be harmonized with other statements in Old Tesstament, unduly lengthens the period, which in fact may not have exceeded two centuries" [Helps, 16]
This has caused some difficulty in creating a time line for this period. Bellow is a rough outline of my interpritations of a number of charts of the history of this time. A list of the judges in the order in which they ruled and approximate dates is also availible here.
