Name, SG Position: Boonshoft Senator

1.  Events Attended:

a.  2/8/15, MSSC Meeting, met with all classes of student government to go over issues facing the school. Had good discussion on topics pertaining to classes, residencies, professors, rotations, etc.

b.  2/3/15, Dean LeRoy Meeting, talked with Dr. LeRoy about news from the WSU Student Government. Wants to plan a scavenger hunt during orientation week for incoming medical students to help familiarize them with the school. Feels medical students do not know the school very well.

c.  2/2/15, Med School Student Panel, helping the Pre-health Advising Office organize their Med School Student Panel on Feb 16th at 12:00 PM in the Apollo Room.

d.  2/5/15, Digs for Dreams Volleyball Tournament hosted by the Peds Club, needs campus wide advertisement.

a.  Pre-Law Program

i.  Spoke to students about potential dates and interest in

1.  LSAT Prepcourse

a.  Idea is great

b.  Would like if it were free (unlikely)

c.  At the very least should be inexpensive

2.  Law School Fair

a.  No input on prospective dates

b.  Like the idea though

c.  *Also received an email from Ohio Northern University inquiring about my previous idea about having a fair this semester

i.  Will be sure to give information to Dr. Feldmeier to contact for next fall

ii.  Brought 4 LSAT Prepbooks to SG Office for Gabe to be provided to students who require assistance without having to purchase the materials.

b.  Disabilities Arts Gala

i.  Met with Collaborators: Emily Bingham, Kyle Powell Megan Goettemoeller

ii.  Went to SU Office with Zena to ensure that the room was booked (4/9 - 6:00-9:00) and to inform them that Zena is the Primary Contact, as Certified Event Planner, for the event

iii.  Met with Tom Webb, Director of ODS

1.  Really likes idea as a whole

2.  Discussed Scholarship benefits and naming

a.  Should have a list of potential scholarships which we could donate proceeds to/name within the next couple of days

3.  Discussed email blasting from ODS to get students interested in attending and presenting

iv.  Discussed AV needs with group - asked Zena to find out if we need anything special for light music requirements

4.  Meet with Jennie buckwalter tomorrow to discuss event as a whole and discuss what steps need to be taken in order to auction off items at the event.

c.  Refillable Water Station

i.  Since the Student Rec area is already implementing these types of stations as the others break down and these are the highest traffic areas, it is unlikey that we will pursue any others around campus soon.

d.  ELECTIONS!!!

i.  Continued discussing upcoming elections and tried to get students to apply.

3.  New Business

a.  Printing

i.  Accompanied Kyle for a meeting with Craig Wooley concerning a program which he had implemented at USF which had their IT department partnered with the USFSG to give students a certain amount of allotted money for daily printing - ($2.50?).

ii.  Got more informaiton on it and are going to look into the program further as a potential generator of revenue which we could potentially cycle back into some type of scholarship fund.

i.  10/23 - Student issue with the hiring process of TA’s and major concerns about a specific TA.

·  I have reviewed this information over break more in depth and I am still struggling with how to make this information more visible to students. I am hoping to find an SG member who is interested in the matter and maybe we could coordinate ideas with getting more students to know about the shuttles.
