Dear Parent 13 October 2014

Your child has expressed interest in participating in one or more of the upcoming DHS Air Force JROTC community service events, as part of their required, graded 5-hour community service hour participation for the semester. Participation is limited as indicated via event.

DHS Homecoming Parade at DHS, Friday, 17 Oct, 1:30pm to 3:30pm: dress = black JROTC polo, long blue jeans, & tennis shoes; two hours community service credit. We need 40 volunteers. Students will actually march from the DHS bus lane down onto the football field. Students who are unable to handle this regimen should not volunteer, because if they fall out of formation they will not get credit.

Note: the parade Color Guard and saber team will be supervised by MSgt Briggs; the homecoming game Color Guard & saber team will be supervised by MSgt DeSears. See the appropriate person for the appropriate event. Do NOT return this form for Color Guard & saber team.

Dutchtown Elementary School Fall Festival, Friday, 24 Oct, 4pm to 8pm: dress =black JROTC polo, long blue jeans, & tennis shoes; four hours community service credit. We need 20 volunteers. DES will provide food. Students must have their own transportation.

Red Oak Elementary School (175 Monarch Village Way, Stockbridge) Fall Festival, Saturday, 25 Oct, 12noon to 4pm: dress = black JROTC polo, long blue jeans, & tennis shoes; four hours community service credit. We need 25 volunteers. ROE will provide food. Students must have their own transportation.

The students who assist at the fall festivals will either run booths, supervise games, take tickets, or help with student crowd control.

Selection for the DES and ROE fall festivals will be based on students who demonstrate impeccable behavior, the highest degree of military discipline, respect for adult and cadet authority, ability to stay focused on the assigned task, willingness to accept directions from cadet leaders, and dependability to report to the event once selected.

Please sign and have your child return this note to me by 4pm on Wednesday, 15 October. We cannot accept email or phone call permission. Students should place a 1, 2, or 3 by the events in the order of preference, with 1 being the highest preference. We will not consider a student for an event that is left blank.
