Leadership Meeting Notes
Thursday, February 26, 2015 – 6:30PM

Attendees: Charles McClenaghan, President, JD Kaplan, Vice-President & Director of Communications, Stephanie Ramsey, Secretary, Dennis Damon, Co-Chair Events Committee, Steve Brown, Events Committee, Reagan Brown, Chair Young Republicans Dublin Scioto High School, Madysen George, Young Republican Dublin Scioto High School
The meeting was called to order by Chas McClenaghan at 6:45PM.
DISCUSSION ITEMS:
- Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Open discussion on planning for the DRC participation in the parade.
Participants: Noted that 15-20 young conservatives would be ideal to march and hand out items
Reagan and Madysen will attempt to recruit from High School
Steve Brown has arranged use of vintage delivery truck to carry additional participants who will not march but can replenish hand out baskets for marchers.
JD Kaplan has a source for stickers that can be purchased at the price of $276.00 for 10,000 and will do an appropriate design for Irish theme and DRC identification
Stephanie Ramsey has found green hats for the participants to wear with a special light up one for the featured participant
After-parade festivities will be held on the grounds of OCLC – Blarney Bash. JD will inquire as to possibility of hosting participants there after the parade. If not there, it would be nice to provide some refreshments for participants. To be determined.
Final plans will be concluded and invitation sent to members for participation.
- Lincoln-Reagan Franklin County Republican Dinner
Scheduled for March 28, 2015 at the Villa Milano
Cost: $100.00 per person
OSU University Republican Club will be admitted at no cost
JD will inquire re: discounted pricing for DRC members as in the past
- Review of Kick-off meeting
All agreed that the kick-off meeting was a great success.
Discussion of streamlining admission process
Suggested that there be two admission lines, one for members and one for new member registration and non-members
Suggested that DRC send an Honorary membership to Clarence Mingo. All agreed that his presentation was outstanding
Future meetings should include an acknowledgement of new members
- Discussion of motivation for membership into DRC and benefits of membership
Why is membership in a community-based, grass roots organization beneficial?
- Offers opportunity to get to know our local politicians important to the community
- Introduces young people to the issues of the day and the political process, not to influence thinking as much as to provide information on civic matters.
- Provide opportunity to explore and articulate convictions
- Mold the future of the county
We should be able to emphasize the benefits of membership if we want to build
- Future meeting plans
May 14, 2015 meeting to feature Sec. of State John Husted
Meeting was adjourned at 8:15PM.
