Cultural Resource Coordinator

The N'Swakamok Native Friendship Centre (NNFC) is currently accepting resumes for the position of Cultural Resource Coordinator. Full-time (35 hrs/week).

THIS POSITION WILL BE LOCATED AT THE PARRY SOUND FRIENDSHIP CENTRE

The Cultural Resource Coordinator (CRC) will coordinate and support all aspects of cultural knowledge transfer and planning within the NNFC. The Cultural Resource Coordinator will provide traditional teachings and ceremonies in a safe and acceptable environment and also coordinate access to Elders and Traditional people to meet the needs of the NNFC community, with children, youth and families. The Cultural Resource Coordinator will also work to promote cultural awareness, safety and competency within the NNFC.

Qualifications:

·  Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on family violence, child welfare, the impacts of trauma, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach.

·  Knowledge and experience working with urban Indigenous children, youth and families in a healing and reconciliation capacity.

·  Exceptional knowledge of Indigenous historical and contemporary issues.

·  Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies and/or combination of an equivalent and relevant education.

·  Minimum of seven years of demonstrated and related work experience within an Indigenous organization or community.

·  Skills and experience in presenting workshops and facilitating groups.

·  Experience in program planning, development, implementation, data collection and evaluation

·  Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

·  Ability to speak an Aboriginal language an asset.

·  Ability to work with minimal supervision.

·  Must have excellent computer skills.

·  Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License, have access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel if required.

·  Must provide a clear criminal reference check (CPIC), which includes screening for vulnerable sector.
