LOUISBURG USD #416

DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM INFORMATION

SUMMER 2012

DRIVER EDUCATION: Age 14 prior to June 1, 2012. Students learn the principles of safe driving. DRIVER EDUCATION consists of classroom instruction and driving instruction. Students must successfully complete both parts of the course.

·  Student Driving Schedules will be determined by the instructor. Students may be involved in the driving phase throughout the listed driving schedule. Students must successfully complete both parts of the course to earn a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION which can be used in moving towards obtaining a Kansas restricted license. Parents and students should consult the Kansas Highway Patrol website for complete requirements.

NOTE: The Louisburg Driver education curriculum is a competency based curriculum. It is important for students to maintain regular attendance. All course work must be completed at either an 80% or 90% level to show competency allowing students to continue to the next competency. Absences will only jeopardize the completion of the course in the allotted time. Students not finished with tests by the last day of instruction will re-enroll for the following summer and pay additional enrollment fees.

NOTE: When using the Dr. Ed Certificate of Completion to obtain a DMV Instruction permit, students must present picture identification, birth certificate.

It is difficult for teachers to reschedule missed driving times so students must be available for all driving times as scheduled by the teacher. If the student cannot attend a driving session because of illness or family emergency, the student is responsible for notifying the teacher as soon as possible prior to the scheduled driving time.
