Dress Code Policy & Guidelines

Students in grades K -6 are required to wear dress code beginning Wednesday,August 26, 2015.
Oliveira scholars -- college bound and career ready!

Allowable Shirts and Tops

  • Colors:White, burgundy, light blue, navy blue(solid color)
  • Types:Polo or collared shirts, turtlenecks, and henley style tops,

sweaters & sweatshirts. Shoulders covered.

Allowable Jackets

  • Colors:White, burgundy, light blue, navy blue (solid color)

sweaters or sweatshirts may be worn all day in class.

Any type or color of jacket may be worn to and from school
and when playing outdoors.

Please use name labels/tape on your child’s jackets, sweaters & sweatshirts—keep the outerwear out of the lost & found.

Allowable Bottoms

  • Colors:Navy blue, khaki, black
  • Types:Pants, walking shorts, skirts, shorts, jumpers, capris.

Sweatpants -- solid color.

Allowable ShoesShoes must have closed toes and closed heels for safety—tie or velcro shoes are necessary for recess and PE activities on a daily basis.

Allowable HatsHats are worn only outdoors for sun protection. Head covering for religious and/or cultural reasons are permitted.

Special Dress Code DaysOliveira t-shirts or sweatshirts may be worn on Fridays & spirit days with allowable dress code bottoms.

Inappropriate Dress

  • Students may not wear denim jeans, pant, shorts or jumpers. They are allowed to wear denim jackets.
  • Clothing with embellishments, writing or designs is not allowed.
  • Sports team jerseys and athletic wear that is highlighted with stripes, logo, glitter and rhinestones are not allowed.
  • Rhinestones are not within dress code. Students may not wear pants or tops that are embellished with rhinestones and similar design details.
  • Other items not permitted include: pants with writing on the back, tops or bottoms that are oversized or baggy, tops or bottoms with patterns, stripes, fades, etc.
  • Shorts, skorts or skirts must be longer than fingertips when arms are extended downward.
  • Students may not wear sandals, boots, thongs, flip-flops, clogs, crocs, Heely’s, slip-on shoes or soccer cleats.

Dress code applies to all students 2015-16 — exemptions do not carry over year to year.

All district and state dress code policies remain in effect (BP 5132). Dress code dress code began at Oliveira on September 2, 2009.
