Dress Code - Middle School(5th – 8th Gr.)

Student Uniforms & Appearance

Tops

  • Oxford shirt or blouse (long or short sleeve) to be tucked in at all times
  • White or Light blue polo shirt (long or short sleeve)
  • School Sweater or Sweater vest
  • St. Paul’s logo & team sweatshirts (hoods may not be used indoors)

Pants/skirts:

  • Navy pants with navy or white socks*
  • Navy walking shorts
  • Young women may also wear:
  • Navy box pleat skirt (no more than three inches above the knee) with white or navy anklets, knee-highs, tights or hosiery
  • Navy tab skort (no more than three inches above the knee)
  • Navy bike shorts (not long pants) are acceptable under a skirt

All:

  • Shoes with soft soles, including athletic shoes or sneakers, must be low-cut, moderate in appearance, mostly solid in a moderate color (brown or black preferred), and in decent repair - without rollers, flashing lights, bright stripes, open toes or heels. Sandals, flip-flops, and crocks are specifically prohibited for reasons of safety, appearance, and unsuitability for recess. Dark boots with soft rubber soles may be worn during cold or wet weather. Rubber sole shoes are preferred as they leave the fewest marks.
  • Hair is to be natural in appearance and color.

While in the Classroom:

  • The only alternative to the sweater or sweater vest is s St. Paul’s school or team sweatshirt or polar fleece jacket. All must have logo.

If students come to school out of uniform, parents will be notified.This policy will be strictly enforced.

On school field trips or for more formal occasions:

School uniforms only unless otherwise instructed by teacher. Please wear more formal shoes when possible and as appropriate for the destination (theater, museum, etc.) Outdoor oriented field trips may call for outdoor-type footwear.

P.E. Middle School/Upper School:

  • Solid colored navy shorts or sweat pants and St. Paul’s Academy school logo T-shirt, white socks only, athletic footwear.
  • T-shirts are available for ordering through PALS.
  • PE BAGS WITH NAME ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL STUDENTS

The school logo is mandatory for all polo shirts, fleeces, sweatshirts, sweaters, and sweater vests

* Logo sport socks are not acceptable. Jackets and other non-uniform outside clothing are to be removed once the student is inside the school buildings.

Free Dress

Free dress days may occur on alternateFridays as long as it is clear that all students in the community are working to adhere to the uniform guidelines.

STUDENTS MAY WEAR:

 Jeans, shorts, or skirts (not skin tight or with tears or holes and no shorter than three inches above the knee)

 Sweatshirts, shirts, or blouses (no inappropriate wording or design)

Dresses, pants, or slacks

STUDENTS MAY NOT WEAR:

 Pants/skirts/shorts worn below the waist

 Loose fitting/baggy pants or pants which show boxersor other underwear

 Flip-flops, open back shoes or sneakers that convert to roller blades

 Tank tops,tight fitting or revealing tops, bathing suits, or any clothing exposing midriff

 T-shirts or sweatshirts with inappropriate wording, branding, or messaging

 Bike shorts, cut-offs, or pajama pants

 Hats
