Drawing and Painting Sketchbook Assignments
3rd Quarter
8 due Wednesday, March 24
Sketchbook assignments are worth 10 points each. Additional assignments may be done for extra credit in the Daily Assignments grade category.
1. Do a realistic portrait drawing of a friend (with enough details and shading/value, this can count for 2 sketchbook assignments).
2. Create a mosaic picture from magazine pages. Cut them into little squares and make a new picture out of them (with enough details, this can count for 2 sketchbook assignments).
3. Draw a close up pencil drawing of part of an insect – the details of a wing, its face, a foot, an antenna – whatever! Draw from a photograph and see me if you need one printed.
4. Draw a fruit or vegetable, showing all the texture or patterns on its skin.
5. Draw an object as realistically as possible, adding color.
6. Draw the corner of a room.
7. Draw the one thing you use the most every day.
8. Detailed drawing of an animal – include texture!
9. Draw your purse or wallet with shading and value.
10. Draw part of the outside of a building from a photo or as you sit in front of it.
11. Detailed drawing of part of a complicated object. Examples: musical instrument, kitchen gadget, car parts, video game controller, etc.
