KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TIMELINES

The Player Agent is the one person on the Board of Directors with the responsibility of REPRESENTING THE PLAYERS

Octoberthru December
  • Participate in RedWest Little League and District 9 meetings as needed
  • Receive registration and new player information from Registrar
  • Receive copies of Manager Applications
  • Local Rules and Regulations: Review and propose amendments needed to comply with Little League rule changes
  • Participate on Manager Selection Committee.
  • Review qualifications and Manager/Coach Evaluations to for each candidate
  • Committee is led by Division VP and includes the Player Agent and Umpire in Chief
  • List submitted to President for approval and presentation to the Board for vote

January and February

PLAYER EVALUATIONS

  • Reserve fields - the Scheduler can do this for you
  • 4th or 5th Saturday of January: Perrigo fields 1 and 2 from 9am-3pm
  • Following Wednesday: Hartman fields 5 and six from 5pm-8pm
  • Arrange for volunteers
  • Two managers at each station for 11/12 evaluations and two managers at each station for 9/10 evaluations
  • Contact league alumni to assist with warm-ups, catching and help at each station
  • Provide lunch for 25 volunteers
  • Provide Evaluation Sheets/Clipboards/Pens for each manager/evaluator (12)
  • Populate confidential player evaluation spreadsheet with scores from evaluation sheets and distribute to managers

DRAFT

  • Set date and location of manager meetings (arrange for projector/screen availability)
  • Pre-Draft evaluation review/player ranking meeting with managers
  • Draft Meeting: Final review of rosters, blind draw, option changes and team name assignments
  • Team formation spreadsheet for update/record of events for the draft
  • Receive final list of registrations from Registrar
  • Complete Inter-League Play Form for scheduled Interlock
  • Prepare team rosters and transfer data to Little League Headquarters no later than 14 days after the first scheduled game.

March thru End of Regular Season

PLAYER TRANSACTIONS

  • Assure that team rosters are set and maintainedin compliance with the RWLL Rules and Regulations for Forming Teams document
  • Record all player transactions and maintain an accurate and up-to-date record thereof
  • Advise board. If approved, President must send letter releasing the player, listing justifiable player
  • Notify Little League Headquarters of any subsequent player replacements or transactions during the season.

PLAYER ADVOCAY

Be available to resolve issues that arise concerning players in relation to Board, umpires, managers, parents, rules violations and any disciplinary actions discussed/taken. The Player Agent represents all of the players all of the time.

POOL PLAYERS

  • Maintain a list of players in each division who will play in situations where a team is short players and cannot reschedule
  • Maintain a list of players in Coast, AAA and AA who are willing to be “called up” should a roster spot become available in a higher division
  • Provide list of Coast division players who will fill roster spots for Memorial Day tournament if needed

RULES COMPLIANCE

Monitor manager compliance with mandatory play and pitch count rules. Investigate complaints and report violations to President and Vice President.

MANAGER EVALUATIONS

  • Distribute Manager/Coach Evaluations
  • Player Agent sends to Managers who in turn forward to Parents
  • Verify that Manager/Coach Evaluations have been distributed and promoted by the manager
  • Collect Manager Evaluations and provide appropriate information to the All-Star Manager selection committee
  • Archive all Evaluations for next year’s Player Agent

ALL STAR PROMOTION

  • Invite players to submit Letters of Intent (LOI) for participation in All Star/Tournament teams
  • Verify that that all LOI are submitted prior to deadline, contain accurate information, are signedand contain explicit acceptance of the terms of participation on tournament teams
  • Send list of players applying for tournament teams to managers

Juneand July

ALL STAR SELECTION

  • Set date and location for manager meetings (arrange for projector/screen availability)
  • Convene Majors managers to select both the 12 year old and 11 year old team
  • Convene Coast managers select 10 year old team
  • Manager Selection Committee interviews applicants and selects Manager for each tournament team.
  • Prepare, for the President’s signature and submission to District Administrator, All-Star affidavit and all required documents
