Parking General Information

All university parking facilities, except those for visitors and pay lots, are regulated by a system of alphabetic coding. To park in any alphabetic-coded lot, the vehicle must be registered with the university. This regulation is always in effect, except that any vehicle, with or without a permit, may park in any D or E space from Friday at 5 p.m. until Sunday at 11 p.m. Most permits run from July through June. It is the permit holder’s responsibility to know the expiration date of the permit.

Where do I buy a Retired Employee permit?

Permits for Retired IU employees may be purchased via our Online Parking Portal and in person at the Parking Operations office.

What do I need to provide?

You will need to provide the following information:

  • Name, address, and phone
  • Vehicle description and color

What permit am I eligible for?

What are my payment options?

Visitor and Retired Employee permits may be purchased by cash, check, or credit card.

Recreational Sports
A full Recreational Sports membership gives you access to both the SRSC facilities and the WildermuthIntramuralCenter and HPERBuilding.
In addition to the use of facilities, this membership includes:
  • Over 80 Group Exercise sessions with specific sessions for faculty/staff during the noon hour and after 5 p.m.
  • Exclusive pool hours for faculty/staff during the noon hour.
  • Semi-private cardio studio at the SRSC.
  • State-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment.
  • Two-hour monitored parking system at the SRSC.
You may purchase a membership to Recreational Sports for yourself, your spouse, and your dependents under 18 years of age. Stop in at Member Services at the SRSC or the WildermuthIntramuralCenter during normal facility hours (click on Facilities button on our homepage for hours or call (812) 855-SRSC for more information.

Traveling to another university and want to work out at its recreation facilities?
RS members can get a “NIRSA Passport” from RS Member Services and work out at any of the 663 National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA)-member institutions!

Intercollegiate Athletics

Retired faculty and staff can purchase season tickets for IU Football and Men’s Basketball games at the Faculty/Staff rate.

University Club

Life membership is offered to faculty or staff members upon retirement. Retired faculty and staff must fill out a life member card yearly to have their dues paid by the university. The Life membership cards are available in the Club office and are also mailed to retired faculty and staff once a year. Retired IU Faculty and Staff Membership Mail in Form on the website (IU will pay your dues if you send in the Life Membership Form each year.)

IndianaUniversity Technology Account Eligibility

Use of IndianaUniversity technology resources (e.g., computers, networks, phones) is restricted to purposes related to the university's mission of education, research, and public service. Access to IU computing resources is a privilege granted to all admitted IU students and current or retired university faculty and staff, in support of their studies, instruction, duties as employees, official business with the university, and other university-sanctioned activities.

At IndianaUniversity, retired faculty and staff can have email accounts. To maintain or receive an email account, you must be retired according to IU's criteria. For a list of the age and service requirements necessary to qualify as an official retiree, see Retiree Status and Benefits.

If you are a retired faculty or staff member who had an email account before your retirement, you don't have to do anything to keep your account active. If you want to request your first email account after you retire, you can create your account using the Account Management Service (AMS); for more information, see How do I get my first computing accounts at IU?

Who is eligible to download software from IUware?

At IndianaUniversity, the following are eligible to obtain university-distributed software from IUware:

  • Students with the status "currently enrolled or registered for a future semester" according to the Office of the Registrar
  • Faculty with the status "presently employed by IU"
  • Staff who use a computer at work and with the status "presently employed at IU"
  • Retired faculty

IU Retiree status is determined by the following age and service criteria:

**At ages 60, 61, 62, employees covered by the PERF retirement plan on the date of separation shall qualify with at least 15 years of IU service.
The “Years of IU Service” requirement will be prorated for ages that fall between the ages that are listed in the above table.
"Years of IU Service" means the years of full-time appointed service at IndianaUniversity, excluding periods of leave without pay. However, sabbatical leaves and leaves for purposes of research of distinction are included.
