1.OpeningRemarks

The WFEO President, Mr Marwan Abdelhamid welcomed everybody, especially the observers from Honduras.

2.Approval of the Agenda

No changes were made to the agenda.

3.Summary of the Executive Board Meeting of 23 March 2015

No new members have joined WFEO, but some contacts have been established such as Papua New Guinea. Proposals for continuation or new hosts for STCs are awaited. There are stages to prepare proposals. Prepare a draft proposal. This will be reviewed and advice given on how to finalise. New hosts have to make proposal on how they will organise and operate the STC.

Request for nominations for the elections later this year in Japan have gone out to National members. Nominations have to be made by National Members. International members cannot submit nominations.

4.Communication

The Web site is much improved.

Africa Catalyst Project has been submitted to DFID, but there is no definite response yet.

The Communication Team is looking at sources of funding/sponsorship.

5.Strategic Planning

A draft of the Strategic Plan has been produced. It will be sent out for comments before being finalised.

6.Awards

In future awards will be made to outgoing presidents, as well as other deserving persons.

7.WURC

WFEO has applied to UN committees for observer status. Response is awaited.

8.Financial

WFEO is running at a deficit. “Loss” of E15000.

Must get new members, and get back old members that have left.

9.World Engineering Forum

United Arab Emirates have agreed in principle to provide financing.

10.COP 21 Side Event

WFEO is to participate at this event.Need information from National members who wish to be part of the delegation. Need to register before the 3rd week in April.

11.Reports of the Standing Technical Committees

11.1Report of the Committee on Disaster Risk Management

There is now a committee on landslides.

11.2Report of the Committee on Engineering and the Environment

UK has agreed to be the new host of the CEE.

11.3Report of the Committee on Energy

Looking for volunteers for the position of deputy chair.

Conference on 6, 7 and 8 December on Energy Management in Bahrain.

11.4Report of the Committee on Engineering Capacity Building

There is strong support for the Africa Catalyst project. In support the STC has started a project with UNESCO on the status of engineering in Africa.

The Africa Engineering Week will take place in September 2015.

11.5Report of the Committee on Education in Engineering

Working on an MoU between WFEO and IEA. Will change the name to Mobility in Engineering.

There will be a Conference on Engineering Education from 29 to 30 October in Beirut.

11.6Report of the Committee on Information and Communication

There was a workshop in Nairobi, Kenya. Outcome was the Nairobi Data Sharing Principles.

The STC is planning for transfer to the new host.

11.7Report of the Committee on Anti-Corruption

The STC proposed a change in name to STEC (ethics)

The STC would like to see WFEO and member organizations being certified in terms of ISO 3701.

Zimbabwe will apply to be the host for a second term.

11.8Report of the Committee on Innovative Technology

There will be a Seminar in May 2015 in Kathmandu.

11.9Report of the Committee on Women in Engineering

The next event will be on 1 December in Kyoto.

11.10Report of the Committee on Young Engineers/Future Leaders

Members will get a discount at WEC. The YEFL is now active in 27 of the 86 WFEO member countries.

11.11Report on the celebration of the WFEO 50th Anniversary

This is to be celebrated in 2018. The intention is to issue a book.

Events to be organised by the host country for the WEC.

One proposal is to propagate the idea of a National Engineering Day.

11.12Report on General Assembly and WECC 2015

Will take place from November 29 to December 2 in Kyoto, Japan, at the Kyoto International Conference Centre.

12.Proposals to host 2017 General Assembly

Allocated to Italy.

13.Report on WEC2019

Organisation is going well.
