Review of Minutes from 16.3.16 / Minutes from previous meeting were agreed
Swale Clinical Commissioning Group
Discussed Virgin Atlantic taking over the nursing services locally.
MB informed us about attending ‘Listening Post’ which was a small forum. He was assured by CCG that minimum services were not going to be closed at Sheppey or moved to Sittingbourne from Sheppey without a public consultation.
SW said that Wound Services had moved from Sheppey to Sittingbourne because of difficulties with providing the service at Sheppey.
He said that the CCG had been talking about having minor injuries, same day care and minor ailments evolve into a MedDoc type of service as many Practices in Swale found it difficult to deal with on the day patients.
One Practice sends out the Paramedic Practitioners commissioned by Swale CCG to all their visits like an on the day minor ailment service. One Practice also sends their patients to the ‘Walk-in Service’ once all their urgent appointments have gone for the day.
SW said the Heart Failure service were not being tuped over so virgin would have to set up something instead. Unfortunately Cardiac services at Medway were 50week waiting list currently.
Best Practice in Swale / The Practice was proud to have been voted the best Practice in Swale out of 23 Practices.
Dr Hissett joining the Team / SW explained that Dr Hissett would be joining the Team tomorrow and would be working every Wednesday. He had worked in four handed GP Practice in the past and was currently also working at Sittingbourne as a GP.
Health Inequalities Project / LC explained the HI Project for this year.
SW said the project has been shared between the whole team and each member of staff had 20 patients to concentrate on. There would be a prize for the member of staff who managed to get the most blood pressures.
End of Life Care / Discussed how end of life care worked in our surgery. SW said the most important thing was being able to speak to the doctor at any time.
LC explained about ‘My Wishes’ which out of hours services has access to which outlines a patients care plan.
MB said he was intending to go to a meeting about local palliative care services by Dr Megan Philpott and would report back at our next meeting.
