LHS Position Description
Title:Adoption Center Manager
Reports To:Director of Operations
Hours:full-time – Tuesday thru Saturday
Job summary: The adoption center manager has overall responsibility for the daily operation of the adoption and front desk operations to ensure a pleasant and positive experience is had by the general public, visitors and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, schedule, manage, and counsel the staff of the adoption center and front desk operations.
- Ensure that all adoption center staff is properly trained in positive customer service interactions and in the philosophies and adoption guidelines of the Lynchburg Humane Society.
- Implements effective communication practices with all staff and volunteers to foster mutual understanding and teamwork between departments.
- Responsible for ensuring that all animals up for adoption have proper animal write ups, photos,videos, price adjustments and marketing plans to help promote their adoption.
- Ensure that all areas of the Adoption Center are maintained in a manner that provides staff, volunteers, clients and animals an environment that is safe, healthy, clean, attractive and uncluttered.
- Ensure that the Lynchburg Humane Society is in compliance with all animal welfare and business laws including maintaining and filing proper paper documentations and other items associated with theanimal welfare functions.
- Work with the other departments to ensure that the each animal is thoughtfully placed in the right location in the adoption center to ensure their mental well-being and marketing benefits.
- Ensure that cash outs and money handling is done efficiently, honestly and on time.
- Promote savings, material donations and monetary donations.
- Ensures that staff know how to implement their role as fundraisers in Adoption Center activities and off site events.
- Staff and manage offsite adoption events as needed
- Ensure that inventory is documented, maintained, ordered and organized.
- Report monthly adoption center statistics, retail expenses, and associated income. Works with Director of Operations to develop the budget for the adoption center and ensure that the department stays within the approved budget.
- Develop, manage and implement all adoption events and specials. Work with marketing team to advertise and market these events. Develop a schedule of planned events and update the website as needed.
- Manage the social media posts for the adoption centerto ensure we are marketing and promotion adoptions.
- Handle client concerns in a professional manner. Oversees and ensures that the highest quality client services are offered to all visitors, adopters, and potential clients in person, on phone, and via email.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations and Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent management or administrative experience.
- At least 2years management experience
- Excellent leadership and assertiveness skills.
- Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.
- Ability to maintain composure and excel in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized and accurate.
- Ability to communicate with the public in a respectful manner, even under pressure.
- Leader, mentor, and problem solver
- Computer and data entry experience, shelter software knowledge a plus
- Ability to represent the values of LHS by working in a culturally diverse environment and community in a way that fosters understanding and compassion.
