Douglas County 4-H Leader Association Meeting Minutes

January 12, 2015

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm at Northwestern High School

Present: Jenny Kroll, Clorissa Kroll, Lorrie Gunnerson, Pat Luostari, Patty Lier, Nicole Greely, Hannah Lier, Jeanette Rantala, Lisa Soyring, Katie Stenroos, Nola Stenroos, Sonya Blair

Treasurer report: November beginning balance: $28,987.99

November ending balance: $28,781.22

December ending balance: $28,770.06

United Way money still coming in. Winter camp fees paid. Motion to accept treasurer report made by Nola Stenroos and 2nd by Clorissa Kroll.

Old Business: With Joan’s departure it was mentioned to watch emails closely as a form of communication until position filled. Positions were posted and you can email the office for details. By laws have not been updated for several years and that will need to be done over the coming year. They are available on the website but are not current.

Upcoming Events: Winter Camp this Jan 16 - 18th in Drummond WI. 6 Youth from Douglas County attending. Amber from Price County will chaperone Douglas County youth. Project Night is Jan 19th starting at 6:15pm. Possible activities will be cake decorating, open gym, GPS, Karate, horse rope halter, animal vet science, flower arranging, bookmarkers, recycled snowflakes. Soyna said she could help with the volunteer training and sign them up that night. Emails will go out reminding 4H families of the activities, volunteer training and possibly an article in the evening newspaper that Friday. January 26th is the Douglas County Horse Association at the youth building at 6pm. January 30-31 is Art Lab in Wisconsin Dells. Currently there does not appear to be any Douglas County youth attending. The Beef Association meeting is also planned for Project Night.

New Business: None

Other Business: Future dog project meeting for all youth planned for April or May of this spring. More information will be available by the next meeting. Enrollment information by Sonya is that she called all inactive members to archive them or get them registered. Currently there are 6 active clubs in Douglas County (Tiger Pride, Clover Country, Horses R Us, Bit N Spur, Puppy Pals, Pony Express)

Nicole Greely was selected to attend National 4H Conference (10 youth from the state were selected). This is a honor. Joan nominated Nicole for this trip.

If the youth building is needed, Patty Soliday is no longer the person to contact. You must call the extension office and get the number for the person who will make that building available for you. It was reported at the there will be a fair during the 1st or 2nd week of August 2015. More information will be available at the next meeting.
