Greetings Willow Collectors:

Welcome to Atlanta, Georgia, the site for our 2017 International Willow Collectors32ndConventionon July 6-9, 2017. Atlanta is the home to ‘The Road to Tara’, in Jonesboro, Ga, giving us this year’s theme of “Gone with the Willow”. A special thanksto Kathy & Hugh Sykes for their awesome design for this year’s logo. Please check out the logo’s mansion, our Southern Belle, and the famous Southern River paddleboat.

Metro Atlanta has so many things to see and do – The World of Coca-Cola, The Georgia Aquarium, Stone Mountain, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the High Museum of Art - just to name a few. Schedule some additional vacation time forsightseeing all around this great historic area.

All the information that you need to register for the convention is included in this package. We are offering our popular Willow Wear with this year’s logo, so make sure to look for your order form. We are also offering an early bird registration if you register on or before April 30, 2017. All registrations and formsmust be returned no later than May 31, 2017.

The IWC Convention room rate is $103.00 per night and includes full hot/cold breakfast buffet for two (2) per room reservation. Please make your hotel reservations as soon as possible with the information noted in this package. The hotel reservation deadline is June 15, 2017 – after that time, we cannot guarantee the rooms or this special rate.

IWC Guest Policy (As adopted by the IWC Board of Directors July 2009)

A guest is a spouse, relative or friend who comes to the convention with a fully paid member.The member will list and pay for the appropriate number of guest meals on the member’s registration form.The name of the guest is listed with that IWC member’s listing in the program.The guest will be entitled to attend all events and programs accompanied by the member (include any additional fees, if applicable. Example: Workshops). If attending the auction,a guest may place a bid on any item, provided the sponsoring member agrees to be responsible for any unpaid tickets or NSF checks that the IWC may receive. Their kitchen staff also handles the banqueting and food requirements for the hotel. We have eaten there and I can attest – their food is fabulous! Above Marlow’s is the bar/cocktail lounge for relaxing and enjoying some savory beverages of your choice and wonderful conversations. Just a little further down the street, there are other restaurants of your choosing or for your guests.

AIRPORT:Hartsfield International Airport (ATL)is located 22 miles from hotel. Convention attendees are responsible for transportation between the hotel and airport.

If you are arriving on Wednesday, please join other willow friends at Marlow’s Tavernat 6:30 pm for dinner (at your own expense). Catch up on a year’s worth of news with great friends – new and old.

Pre-Convention Thursday, July 6 (8:30 am)

Optional Trip:

Enjoy visiting Atlanta’s most famous and well-known antique market, followed by lunch at the historic Blue Willow Inn! Be on board our chartered bus and head to Scott’s Antique Market for a morning of antiquing! Searchfor that elusive willow find or special piece you just can’t live without. Then back on the bus andoff we go for some wonderful southern hospitality in Social Circle, Georgia – home of the Blue Willow Inn - southern cooking at its best! After lunch, take a stroll over to the Gift shop for their famous cookbook, trinkets and specialty items. We will return to the hotel by 4pm for convention registration and evening activities. Flea Market

Enjoy a fun sale of willow “odds and ends” – lids, underplates, unmatched cups and saucers, napkins, cards – all items$30.00 and under. This is a great time of bargain hunting and bartering! Reserve a table in advance if you would like to sell at this event. See “Exhibitor/Dealer Form.”

Guest Speaker –James Cail

Ever wondered what makes willow so irresistible? Come listen to James Cail as he explains the "The Mind of a Collector". Hear what turns normal people into avid collectors, why it's so addictive and how collections get started - with lots of stories about great places and finds thrown in.

Auction

Of course, the highlightof every convention, is the Friday night auction. This exciting evening will give each of us the opportunity to go home with wonderful willow to add to our collections. People entering items in the auction will register in advance to sell. Sellers keep 80% of the selling price and 20% stays with the organization. Some items will also be designated as donations with all proceeds going to IWC. To place items in the auction, you must sign up in advance. See “Auction Consignment Form” and “Auction List.”

IWC Business Meeting

Our annual business meeting will be on Saturday. Be sure to attend to support the IWC and find out about future conventions. You will hear reports from our Board members, elect upcoming board positions, and makeimportant decisions about our IWC organization and its future. Attendance pins will be awarded and upcoming conventions will be announced.

Place Setting Competition

This year’s theme for the place setting competition is “Gone with the Willow – The South’s Best Setting”. Enter and set your table with your best interpretation of gracious southern hospitality. This “don’t miss” event is a great opportunity to view creative uses of willow and vote for your favorite entry. Prizes will be awarded.

Guest Speaker – Joyce LaFont

Come and listen as Joyce talks about two of he favorite things – willow and decorating.

Take away some great ideas that you can incorporate into your home to make ‘living with willow’ fun and enjoyable for everyone.

Grand Sale

Think of a room filled with blue and white, gaudy, polychrome and all things willow.It is not a dream! Shop the many tables of the Grand Sale to find treasures that you can’t live without.

Willow Banquet

All good things must come to an end and what a way to end it – sharing a wonderful meal together as we draw to a close of a fabulous weekend of educational topics, willow treasuresand most of all, those special friendships that grow through the years. Enjoy a wonderful banquet dinner prepared by the banqueting staff of Marlow’s Tavern. Be sure to select your entrée on the “registration form.”

Worship Service

Gather and worship together in a relaxed and non-denominational setting, if your travel schedule permits Sing some hymns, pray together and share in the Word with some of our pastoral members!

Safe travels to those returning home, and make plans to gather together again in 2018 – Nashville, TN!

A special morning and afternoon trip has been planned for Thursday July 6thto visit two favorite southern willow spots! Plan to board our charter bus at 8:30 a.m. and travel to Scott’s Antique Market to search for that elusive willow find or other collectable that catches your eye. Scott’s is one of the largest Antique Markets in the southeast and is always a great hunt.

Then back on the bus for a 30-minute rideto Social Circle, Georgia for a classic southern lunch at the Blue Willow Inn. A private dining room has been reserved for our group to enjoy some of the best cooking south of the Mason Dixon line. The picture below shows only a few of the lunch items.YUM! After lunch, stroll to their gift shop for some shopping. We plan to return to the hotel by 4:00pm.
