Donor Relations Coordinator
Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle TN (SHFB) seeks qualified applicant for one (1) position in the External Affairs department.
SUMMARY
The Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for securing loyal and meaningful donor support for Second Harvest Food Bank through the development and stewardship of direct response (on/offline) donor relationships with individuals and small businesses, Second Helpings (our monthly donor program) and volunteers. This individual will support and facilitate strategy and stewardship for Individual Giving and Corporate Engagement. This stewardship includes the planning, segmentation, implementation, evaluation and results, and reporting on a monthly basis.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful candidates must have a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university: or two to four yearsfundraising experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent computer experience required, including proficiency in database software (preferably Raisers’ Edge), Microsoft Suite Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical skills, donor giving/acknowledgement strategies, and superior written and verbal communications skills a must.
Reports to Senior Director, Corporate Relations.
JOB DUTIES
The Donor Relations Coordinator will serve two internal customers: Individual Giving, under the Director of Philanthropy, and Corporate Relations, under the Senior Director of Corporate Relations.
Individual Giving
- Spearhead efforts to identify new donor prospects from individual on/offline funding and steward existing entry-level donors.
- Provide leadership in identifying new and creative ways to recognize and effectively steward donors at entry giving levels with the goal of increasing the number of gifts, amount of gifts and increasing donor retention rates.
- Analyze data regarding annual giving programs and past giving trends to provide analysis of program results and plan for market segmentation.
- Perform ongoing assessment of donors’ needs to ensure the donor experience is customer-service oriented.
- Manage/write acknowledgement (thank you) letters.
- Evaluate gift processing and acknowledgment systems and standards, and make recommendations for improvements and changes. Identify resources needed to meet those standards, present the need and any related budget implications, and plan accordingly. Partner with Donor Database team to accomplish such.
Corporate Relations
- Ensure the accuracy of data on corporate donors and prospects to ensure that team can efficiently communicate with corporations via direct response, telephone, etc. Requires calling corporations to gather and update information and working in collaboration with Second Harvest database team.
- Analyze internal and external corporate data to inform corporate engagement strategy. Requires pulling reports from data, manipulating data in spreadsheet form and formatting reports.
- Provide logistical support to execute the corporate engagement aspects of campaigns, events, and cause marketing programs. Requires planning, assembling materials, and general customer relations activities.
- Assist efforts to identify new corporate donor prospects. Requires research skills and ability to match up the work of Second Harvest with the nonprofit engagement objectives of companies.
- Manage the process of documenting restricted gifts and work with data staff to ensure that giving records align with restricted gift records. Requires follow-up to ensure that gift solicitors comply with policy and coordination with management to gain approval of each restricted gift designation.
