Sample internship position descriptions are available from the Davenport University Career Services. Additional information, resources and employer services can be found at minimum, a position description should clearly explain the following:

A general guideline is that internship roles must contain 70% content related to the program major and no more than 30% general administrative tasks.
  1. After receiving the approved position description, the organization is asked to enter into an agreement with the University stating the expectations of the internship relationship, i.e. willingness to complete mid and final semester evaluations and be available for 1 – 2 conversations with Faculty per semester. Career Services provides the organization with a copy of the Davenport University-Organization Experiential Learning Agreement and the organization returns the signed agreement to Career Services.
  1. The internship position description is posted to the “Internships Approved for Credit” sections of Davenport’s PantherJobs siteand will be available for students to apply to.
  1. The organization contacts and interviewsapplicants directly. The organization completes and returns an Employer Internship Decision Form to Career Services.
  1. The organization works with the student and the faculty member to facilitate the evaluation of the student’s performance via an on-site visit by the faculty member and completion of midand final internship site supervisor evaluations.
  1. The internship position remains active on Davenport’s PantherJobs database for each semester until the organization notifies the Internship Manager it has been filled and requests that it be removed.
