DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS/MÉDECINS SANS FRONTIÈRES (MSF)

MSF seeks TECHNICAL LOGISTICIANS for its field missions. Technical logisticians are responsible for supporting field missions by providing economical, functional facilities (i.e. offices, health structures, housing, & warehouses), electrical and energy systems; vehicles, waste management programs and water supply systems to ensure quality and safe working conditions.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • At least two (2) years of relevant professional experience
  • Availability for a minimum of nine (9) to twelve (12) months
  • Relevant travel and/or work outside the United States
  • Experience as a supervisor, manager, teacher, and/or trainer
  • Ability to work and live with a diverse group of professionals
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Computer skills (MS Office)
  • Commitment to MSF's principles of independence, neutrality, and impartiality.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment for a minimum field mission of nine (9) to twelve (12) months
  • Expertise in at least one of the following specialties with the listed requirements:

Construction

- Contractor license, architect degree/license, or civil engineering/construction engineering degree

- Contract drafting, negotiation, and performance experience

- Basic construction project feasibility, design, planning, estimating, and budgeting experience

- Manager, supervisor, or team leader experience

- Carpentry. masonry, and/or plumbing skills & construction or engineering drawing skills an asset

- Construction company ownership/management and related work experience an asset

Electricity

- Electrician license or electrical engineering degree

- Manager, supervisor, or team leader experience

- Diverse job experience. Commercial or industrial experience an asset.

- Familiarity with off-grid electrical systems, generators, and solar power a plus

Mechanical

- Diesel/gas generator maintenance/repair and operation

- Water pump maintenance/repair and operation

- Vehicle maintenance/repair and operation especially diesel 4x4 vehicles in challenging locations

Water and Sanitation

- Environmental engineering or water resources degree (BS, MS). Sanitation engineering degree (MS)

- Experience in/with any of the following: boreholes, wells; potable water delivery/filtration systems,

waterquality monitoring systems; EPANET software and GIS applications, waste management

programs, waste water pollution control systems, and agricultural irrigation systems

Bilingual Arabic and/or French speakers especially needed.
