Volunteer Role Description – Ambassadors Coordinator v2 (23.1.17)
Purpose
Ambassadorsare organisations or charities that work within the local community to reduce crime and protect vulnerable individuals. Their staff and volunteers act as advocates for Crimestoppers; telling their client groups and networks about the services we provide.
The Ambassadors Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and sustaining Ambassadors. This includes recruiting, training, motivating, encouraging and supporting all Ambassadors, enabling them to deliver effective results
This role also requires skills in: facilitating and maintaining positive communications locally; providing a positive engagement model with local partners, encouraging local partnership working in order to promote Crimestoppers.
Role Description
- Identify and make initial contact with, potential Ambassadors in the area covered by the committee.
- Recruit Ambassadors and provide any required awareness or training (e.g. overview of Crimestoppers objectives and activities).
- Ensure Ambassadors are sufficiently resourced (e.g. posters, leaflets, etc.) to be effective.
- To maintain a positive engagement withexisting Ambassadors.
Personal Profile/Experience
Comfortable with speaking to senior representatives of third-party organisations and the ability to deliver high impact verbal and written presentations.
Highly developed interpersonal and networking skills.
Good organisational and research skills; able to work alone.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of the organisation’s strategies and plans (or a clear ability to learn this quickly).
Able to commit sufficient time to make the role successful; this may require working evenings and weekends and travel throughout the area covered by your committee.
Able to nurture and support Ambassadors with varied backgrounds, and with differing skills and experience.
Knowledge and understanding of the geographic area supported by the Committee.

Key Success Indicators
- Increase in the number of organisations acting as Ambassadors in the local community.
- Improvement in the volume of quality information and “actionable information” notified to the charity.
- Positive feedback from Ambassadors and Crimestoppers volunteers.
- Recording interesting and useful comments from the general public.
Commitment
To offer sufficient time each month to coordinate existing Ambassadors and seek new organisations or individuals willing to take on this role. Based on attending a minimum of 1 meeting a week, this is likely to be a minimum of 8 hours per month (including: talking to local community groups; ensuring Ambassadors have the requisite knowledge, experience and marketing materials to perform their role; attendance at committee meetings, local community involvement and some organisational duties).Due to the nature of this role the amount of time needed will vary from week to week and in the early days of implementing the programme may be higher.
Able to travel across the area covered by your committee. Ambassadors could be based in any location in your committee area, so you need to be able to travel to these locations easily. Own transport preferred as public transport may not be readily available when needed.
There may be the opportunity to attend other events or activities associated with the charity if wished.
Support
The role will be supported through:
- Regular contact with the local committee Chair
- Reasonable out of pocket expenses to fulfil essential activities will be reimbursed
