Meeting

January 26, 2015

The mission of the Franklin County Commuity Early childhood Council is to support and strengthen the community by providing information to families, promoting quality in all early childhood programs, and to offer quality training to the early childhood stakeholders in collaboration with other agencies in Franklin County.

The meeting was called to order by Jenny Weeks.

Introductions we made. Those in attndance were Cara Doyle, Tamera Thomas, Terri Spellman, Erinn Conness, Mimi Gosney, Kimberly Ballantyne, Jenny Weeks, Barbara Mathis, Brandy Southard, Margie Moore, Kathleen Campbell, Fred Troutman, Ina Ponder, Tara Davis, Hannah Caudill, Bambi Cliffe, Susan Kincaid, E. Carol Carson, Nancy Calix.

Minutes were reviewed . Mimi Gosney made a motion to accept the minutes, Kimberly Ballantyne second. Motion carried with no discussion.

Mimi Gosney gave the financial report. There is $1,163.64 in the council checking account.

Old Business

  • Resouce Update
  • Add Twitter logo to each page
  • Erinn with check with Armondo re: website traffic
  • Update minutes
  • Photos will be taken for website at next FCCECC meeting
  • Broken link-preschool lessons
  • Contact us page needs some cleaning up
  • Spring Training
  • Jenny Weeks requested that a group be formed to organize the spring training
  • Tamera Thomas is a certified trainer, as is Nancy Calix. Both are willing to help.
  • Jenny would like the format to be a mix of lecture and make & takes.
  • Potential dates are March 7 and April 18
  • Discussion of facilities followed. Options included Wesley Center (Margie to check) and the Community Action Center on Democrat Dr.
  • 6 hours of training will be provided
  • Box lunches will be provided if held at Wesley Center

New Business

  • Grant funded projects
  • Barbara will review the grant to formalize plans for the project.
  • A flyer will be created to generate interest, Nancy will help with Spanish translation.
  • Erinn moved to allow Barbara to put kits together within the budget allowed in the grant. Mimi seconded. Motion carried.

Trainings

  • Orientation I & II can now be completed online.
  • Child Care Council of Kentucky is offering many trainings including Administrative Brigance. Check their calendar for details:
  • The Infant-Toddler Institute will be held on July 24 & 25.

Other

  • Fred Troutman explained that Kiwanis has made young children a priority and they have literature available on dental health and personal hygene.
  • County Extension has 2 new program assistants that will work with SNAP. They are willing to come to childcare centers to do nutritional training.

Terri Spellman made a motion to adjourn, second by Barbara Mathis. Motion carried.

The next meeting will be Monday, February 23, 2015.
