The purpose of this audit tool is to enable schools to compare the requirements of their assessment program with the minimum assessment requirements of the syllabus, and to subsequently consider possible amendments to their school work program.

Verification requirements
A minimum of four instruments and a maximum of six instruments demonstrating a range of techniques, including:
  • evidence of each dimension being assessed at least twice
  • at least one supervised written assessment of an extended nature (unseen)
  • one practical assessment from the Integrated accounting package (CS3).

Assessment categories
Supervised written
May assess the dimensions:
  • Knowledge and procedural practices
  • Interpretation and evaluation.

  • extended written response
  • short response, emphasis on paragraph responses, practical exercises and calculations.
Conditions:
  • recommended time
    1.5–2 hours
  • extended written response 600–800 words
  • short response 50–250 words
  • seen or unseen stimulus.

Extended response
Assesses the dimension:
  • Interpretation and evaluation.
/ A response requiring analysis, synthesis and evaluation of data and information which may be given or based on student research.
Forms:
  • written
  • spoken
  • multimodal.
Conditions:
  • class and/or students’ own time over a period of time
  • written 800–1200 words
  • spoken 4–5 minutes
  • multimodal 5–7 minutes.

Practical assessment
Could be used to assess:
  • Knowledge and procedural practices
  • Applied practical processes.
/ Instruments assess accounting processes manually and electronically.
Conditions:
  • class and/or own time
  • supervised or unsupervised
  • length of time can vary from one lesson through to a number of weeks.
  • seen or unseen stimulus.
