To: The honorable president of United States Barak Obama
Mr. President
Under the banner of Eritreans for Obama, I am one of those who supported your campaign and voted for you. As the two year anniversary of your Presidency approaches, I believe it is time to reflect on your Administrations international policies and a time to ask if your Administrations has delivered the dreams and aspirations of those who believed on your promises, as well as to rectify mistakes that have been made negatively affecting the lives of others.
I decided to write to you today because the one year anniversary of the UN Security Council’s adoption of the illegal, unfair and unjust Resolution 1907 (2009) on 23 December 2009 which imposed sanctions, including an arms embargo against Eritrea is approaching soon. The sanctions imposed on Eritrea supported by your Administration remain a black mark in the hearts and minds of all Eritreans,
Your Administration need to prove itself as a proponent of peace and respect for the rule of law and become an example of leadership for the rest of the world. The immediate removal of all sanctions against the people of Eritrea will go a long way in restoring my shattered confidence in your Administration’s global leadership. I am just one of thousands of Eritrean, watching closely and waiting patiently, giving you a chance to rectify the wrongs committed by your Administration against the people of Eritrea.
Mr. President, I call on you to acknowledge and learn from the mistakes of the past, and restore the hopes of thousands who want to trust you to do the right thing. To stand up for the rule of law and shoulder America’s moral and legal obligations in international law by lifting the unjust sanction and enforcing the Eritrea Ethiopia Boundary Commissions’ delimitation and demarcation decisions.
Regards
