NTMS ENSEMBLE PROGRAM

- POLICY
This policy outlines the process to be followed by NTMS teachers in relation to all NT Music Schools’ Ensembles.
1.1All ensembles have set places, based on achieving a balanced ensemble. These set places are reviewed at the end of each year, and adjusted according to need.
1.2Teachers will discuss student involvement with the relevant ensemble conductor before students are invited to attend an ensemble. Choral students will need to pass an audition.
1.3All students invited to attend any of the NT Music School ensembles are required to fill in a Permission to Attend an NT Music School Ensemble formannually.
1.4Students at Northern Territory Government schools have priority when placing students in ensembles, with 25% of places only reserved for students from Non-Government Schools. This is regardless of where they began their instrumental lessons.
1.5All students from Non-Government Schools are required to contribute $200 per year to participate in Northern Territory Music School Ensembles. This applies only to new Non-Government School students.Registration costs for students previously enrolled in an NT Government School will be $50 per year.
1.6Uniforms are compulsory for all NT Music School Ensemble participants at a cost of $30. Badges to delineate ensembles will be given to students at no cost.
1.7Students are to be at ensemble 10 minutes prior to start time, and picked up within 15 minutes of the conclusion of the ensemble. Students who are consistently not picked up within 15 minutes of the conclusion of a regular NT Music School Ensemble rehearsal will be withdrawn from the ensemble. Re-entry intothe ensemble will be by negotiation with the Conductor in charge of the ensemble.
1.8Performance opportunities are to be approved by the Team Leader, Instrumental and Ensembles Team. Personnel required and Equipment lists are to be submitted to the NT Music School’s Equipment Technician no later than 2 working weeks prior to an event.
1.9Conductors of ensembles are required to keep accurate attendance records of their ensemble for both rehearsals and performances.
1.10Ensemble leaders are required to maintain contact with ensemble parents & guardians regarding the general running and organisation of individual ensembles via email, website information, newsletters or general correspondence. Copies of all correspondence must be given to NTMS Administration staff.

Clear processes will ensure efficiency and consistency across all the Northern Territory Music School Ensembles and accurate data management of student enrolment in the Ensemble Program.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance with this policy at the Northern Territory Music School is the responsibility of the Team Leader, Instrumental & Ensembles and the individual Instrumental Music Teacher.

Con Moto – The NT Music School’s Intermediate Ensembles
Apogee – The NT Music School’s Advanced Ensemble
String Theory – The NT Music School’s Guitar Ensemble
Ritmico – The NT Music School’s Percussion Ensemble
Singchronicity – The NT Music School’s Choir
Instrumental Music Teacher:includes all teachers, qualified or unqualified, who are employed through the Northern Territory Music School to instruct students in instrumental music lessons.
Enrolled Student: is a student whose name appears on the roll created by the Student Administration Management System (SAMS)
Music Contact Staff: is the person or persons nominated by individual schools to be the contact liaison between the Northern Territory Music School and their school.
