AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF CAROLYN “SISSIE” SNOW MCALISTER OF CHARLESTON COUNTYAND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Carolyn “Sissie” Snow McAlister at the age of eightysix in Mt. Pleasant on April 20, 2016; and

Whereas, born in Hemingway on December 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John James Snow, Jr., and Louise Poston Snow and the beloved twin sister of John James “Bubber” Snow III, who formerly served as a member in the South Carolina House of Representatives for eighteen years; and

Whereas, Sissie Snow graduated from Hemingway High School and then attended Columbia College and earned a bachelor’s degree from Converse College; and

Whereas, she married herloving husband, the late Charles Betts McAlister, Jr., and together they reared three fine daughters:Kim McAlister Card, Jayne McAlister Traurig, and Evie McAlister Woods; and

Whereas, Mrs. McAlister’s devoted children blessed her with the joy of six adoring grandchildren; and

Whereas, Mrs. McAlister enjoyed being a homemaker, and she worked in the business office for Growers Big 4 Tobacco Warehouse; and

Whereas, dedicated to her community, Mrs. McAlister was a founding member of the South Carolina BBQShag Festival in Hemingway; a Girl Scout leader;and a member of the Pee Dee Girl Scout Council, Hemingway High School Booster Club, and the Three Rivers Historical Society; and

Whereas, she was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Churchof Hemingway whereshe served as the financial secretary for forty years; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Sissie SnowMcAlister and for the example of service and kindness she set for all who knew her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

Thatthe members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Carolyn “Sissie” Snow McAlister of Charleston Countyand extend their deepest sympathy to her large and loving family and her many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carolyn “Sissie” Snow McAlister.
