Welcome back to the 2015-2016 school year! There is one book to purchase this school year: Technique and Musicianship (band rehearsals). Students will be given handouts in lesson to work on specific instrument technique in their band lesson.
*Parents of percussion students: All percussion students do one of the following each year: purchase a stick bag OR pay the district rental fee. I would encourage all of you to purchase your child a stick bag if you did not acquire one last year. The stick bag contains: 1 pair of drum sticks, 1 pair of rubber mallets, 1 pair of yarn mallets, 1 pair of general timpani mallets. I am able to order a complete stick bag for you for $69.00. Just check the percussion box and circle stick bag below if you would like me to order a bag. If you already have a stick bag, you are asked to pay the District 200 usage fee of $35.00 for use of all the percussion instruments and equipment throughout the school year. For the usage fee, check the percussion box below and circle District Usage Fee.
If you are new to the Edison Band or you have grown taller and need to purchase a band polo, order one below. I have some used polo shirts if you would like one for free. Band Uniform: Edison Band Polo, Black dress pants (yoga pants NOT allowed), black dress shoes, black socks.

Dear Edison Band Parents,
Welcome back to a new year! I am excited to begin working with your child in band. Please complete the attached forms and return as soon as possible. Included are an order form and a handbook slip. The handbook slip should be completed and returned once you and your child have read the band handbook. I have posted the band handbook on Synergy/ParentVue and the Edison teacher web page.
On the back of this letter is the band calendar for the school year. Please note that at the end of each event, there is a listing of which band is involved in the event – 6=Sixth Grade, 7=Seventh Grade, 8=Eighth Grade, Jazz=Jazz Band. Please pay attention to ALL dates, especially those that happen in the latter part of the year.
I am asking ALL band students to purchase a black 1 inch binder for all of their music. 7th and 8th grade students may use their binder from last year.
Throughout the year, if you have questions or need clarification, please send me an email. Sometimes, email is not very good at communicating ideas. In that case, please call me at Edison so we can speak.
