Job Title: Café/Shop Assistant
SALARYHOURS
REPORTS TO
REPORTING TO THIS POSITION / Up to £8 per hour depending on experience.
24 hours per week (to include weekends & bank holidays)

JOB PURPOSE
· Assist in the day to day delivery of visitor services at the Farm, including the shop, café, switchboard, public facilities and information.
· Adhere to all relevant Health & Safety procedures.
· Work closely with casual and part time staff to ensure the highest possible standard of guest Interaction and education.
· Support the delivery of the farm’s business and charitable objectives.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
· Act as a first point of contact at the farm, directing phone calls and visitors to the appropriate department and acting as the Farm’s main information services provider.
· Deal with customer queries or complaints as per the Farm’s policies.
· Help at on and off site events as required.
· Take bookings for events and activities at the farm, both online and over the phone.
· Carry out day-to-day housekeeping and cleaning duties as required.
RETAIL AND CATERING
· To assist in the day to day running of the café and shop
· To acquire strong product knowledge and assist visitors with purchases, up-selling where appropriate.
HEALTH & SAFETY
· To ensure that the café and shop maintain exemplary hygiene standards as per the relevant procedures.
· To adhere to and promote risk assessments ensuring visitor safety in all areas.
· To report visitor accessibility issues to the Visitor Services manager or caretaker.
COMMUNICATION
· Attend and actively participate in regular team meetings.
· Ensure that the farm is welcoming to customers and that all noticeboards and signage are of a high standard and adhere to agreed guidelines for readability.
· Promote the work of the Farm and any forthcoming events to visitors.
STAFF MANAGEMENT
· To assist and engage with volunteers both in the shop & café or around the Farm.
· To assist with the training of part time & seasonal staff.
FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
· Identify new ways of developing revenue streams and donations to the farm
· To help cash up tills, donation boxes and coin operated rides as required.
· To help collate invoices and check deliveries as required.
GENERAL
· React to unexpected operational challenges in a calm, efficient and professional manner.
· Cover Duty Management responsibilities when required
