Welcome to the start of the QC Netball Association (QCNA) 2018 Representative Netball Season.

As part of this experience, we offer representative players the opportunity to participate in several one day representative carnivals as well as taking part in one of Netball Queensland’s state-wide events or in a Development Team. Venues for state events are yet to be advised by Netball Queensland. We are also calling for nominations for our Queensland Premier League Teams (for players aged 15 years to Opens).

QUEENSLAND PREMIER LEAGUE: This is an elite competition held at the State Netball Centre on Thursday or Friday nights for 15/16 Years, 17/18 Years and Opens Teams. This is separate from the Representative Teams participating in the State Events as per below. Players are expected to attend training on Tuesday (TBC) nights (as well as fitness program). The season will run from approximately May to September 2018 (to be confirmed). Trials for Queensland Premier League Teams will be held 13 and 20 February 2018, with fitness and skills sessions prior for all nominees on 30 January and 06 February 2018.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS:

11 YEARS “PRE-REP” TEAM. As a lead up to the representative experience, QCNA are inviting 11 year old players (born 2007) to trial for an 11 Years Team. This team will participate in 2-3club carnivals, as well as weekly training with an experienced rep coach.

The STATE AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS will be run over four days (Saturday, 7 July, to Tuesday, 10 July 2018 inclusive). This is during school holidays. QCNA will nominate two teams in each age group; 12s, 13s, 14s and 15s. The costs associated with this event will be dependent on the venue, but if held locally will be approximately $380-$420, which includes food, transport to and from the courts, sports trainer and accommodation. Training will begin on Sunday, 11 February 2018 (4pm to 6pm) at Downey Park, and continue each Sunday (except during school holidays). Initially, squads will be chosen for each age group, and then final team placements will be announced on 4 March 2018 (all squad members will be placed in a representative team, either to attend State Age Carnival or participate in a Development Team).

The QUEENSLAND CUP isthree day carnival to be held Saturday, 5 May, to Monday, 7 May 2017. QCNA will be looking to nominate one team in each of the following age groups: 16s, 18s, Opens and Masters (over 35 years). Costs will be approximately $350-$400 (if held locally). Training will begin early February 2018.

DEVELOPMENT TEAMS – QCNA will once again be offering places in Development Teams to enhance your netball skills. These teams will participate in 3-4 one day Rep Carnivals throughout the season. Players in these teams may also be called upon to fill in for State Age Championship or Queensland Cup Teams if required. Training will begin Sunday, 4 February 2018, 4pm to 6pm.

QCNA respects all players’ rights to trial to represent the association of their choice and welcome all players who are currently or intend to be registered for any of our competitions in 2017/18.

Trials for 12 to 18 Years (all players to attend both trials):

Venue: Eatons Hill State School, Marylin Terrace, Eatons Hill (Indoor Courts)

Trial 1: Sunday, 05 November 2018 AND Trial 2: Sunday, 12 November 2018

12 years and 13 years (born 2006 and 2005) - 8am to 11am (please arrive before 7:45am)

14 years and 15 years (born 2004 and 2003) – 12pm to 2pm (please arrive before 11:45am)

16 years (born 2002), 17/18 years (born 2001/2000) – 3pm to 5pm (please arrive before 2:45pm)

Squads will be selected from these trials and players will be notified by email the following week. All selected players will be placed in a representative team, be that a team attending the State Event or a Development Team.

Trial for Opens and Masters Rep Teams (Qld Cup)

Saturday, 11 November 2017 – 9:00am to 11:00am

Venue: South Pine Sports Complex, 620 South Pine Road, Brendale

(Indoor Courts – turn right after dinosaur going outbound)

Selected Rep and 11 Years players (and parent for players under 18) will be expected to attend an information and uniform fitting session on Sunday, 19 November 2017, at Strikers Football Club, Abbotsford Road, Bowen Hills. During this meeting information will be provided and players will need to pay a player fee securing their position in the team. Uniforms will be available for purchase on this day.

QUEENSLAND PREMIER LEAGUE TRIAL DATES

Trials: 13 February 2018 and 20 February 2018 (Venue TBA)

REP AND QPL NOMINATIONS CLOSE 29 OCTOBER 2017

(Late nominations will be considered, however you will not be guaranteed a trial in your preferred positions in the first trial (for rep teams). We will endeavour to place you appropriately in second trial.)
