Course Content

  1. Fitness concept instruction
  2. Lifetime fitness and sports
  3. Wellness education
  4. Team sports

Course Expectations

  1. Students are expected to demonstrate respect toward teachers, peers, and the school district.
  2. *Students need to arrive on time and be prepared for class. Being prepared for class includes: wearing reasonably comfortable clothing that allow the student to participate in activity and taking off jewelry with the potential for being a danger risk to the activity. *
  3. Only one person speaks at a time during instruction.
  4. *Use the restroom before this class!*
  5. Eating and use of any cellular telephone is not allowed in class.
  6. *If you are in school on a day that you have class you may not miss a PE class without prior permission from Mr. Bennett or Mr. Welliver.*
  7. *If you miss class your grade for that day is zero until you complete a makeup assignment. If you are in school and you do not have permission to miss class from Mr. Bennett or Mr. Welliver your grade for the missed class will stay zero.*
  8. Follow all directions the first time they are given.
  9. Follow all agreed upon game/activity rules.
  10. *Visiting Nick in his office across the hallway is not part of the physical education curriculum. Being seen by Nick for an injury required my permission*
  11. Follow all other school rules and policies!!!
  12. If you have a question…ASK?
  13. Failure to meet expectations and rules will result in a short training session (detention) where the skill/rule that was broken is practiced. Training sessions (detention) will take place on student time. These sessions may last from 30 seconds – one hour

Grading

All points will be added together and converted into a percentage. Projects and papers will be graded using a rubric, which will be shared with students when the assignment is given. Please see the attached rubric for your daily activity grade. Missing any P.E. class will require a P.E. make up assignment to be completed in order to earn your daily activity grade for the class time that has been missed. P.E. make up papers are available from Mr. Bennett.

Missed work must be made up as soon as possible in accordance with school district policy. You will have the same number of classes to make up the work as were missed for an excused absence. Failure to make up the work may result in a zero for that work.

Extra credit may or may not be given throughout the school year.
