"God's Court Room!"

Psalms 50

INTRO. Have you ever had to make an appearance in a courtroom? Probably

all of us have at one time or another. If not, we will all have to one

day. In Hebrews 9:27, God says, "and as it appointed unto men once

to die, but after this the judgment."

All of us must face judgment someday. If you are saved, according to

2 Corinthians 5:10, "For we must all appear before the judgment

seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body,

according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad " If you are

lost, according to Revelation 20:11-15, you will stand before God at

the Great White Throne Judgment.

In our text, we see a fore view of God's Courtroom. In His courtroom

there will be no mistrials, no lack of evidence, no appeals, or no

acquittals. God will judge and He will judge fairly. In Revelation

19:11, it says, "And I saw the heaven opened, and beheld a white

horse; And he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and

in righteousness he doth judge and make war." Again in Psalms

96:13, the Scripture says, "For he cometh, for he cometh to judge

the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the

people with his truth."

What will His indictment of you be on that day when you stand before

Him? God is merciful, but on that day it will be too late for mercy.

You will stand before Him with no plea! Will you draw closer to Him

while there is still time? There is still abundant grace and mercy in

Him, but don't wait too long!!

Let us look today at God's Courtroom.

IN GOD'S COURTROOM:

(1) The LORD Will Appear As Judge

Text Psalms 50:1-6—In v3 “Fire” is symbolic of judgment

John 5:22—Jesus will judge us. The same Jesus that died for our

sins and intercedes for us before the Father will one

day act as our Judge

Psalms 9:7, 8

A.  The Majesty of His Person (vv. 1-3).

B.  The Measuring of His People (vv. 4-6).

(2) The LORD Will Judge Against Lifeless Worship

Text: Psalms 50:7-15

Ex: Matthew 25:14-30—Parable of the Talents

1 Corinthians 3:9-15

A. The People’s Motives (vv. 7-12). This judgment is not on sacrifices as

such but upon the wrong motives involved!

B. The People’s Misunderstanding (vv. 13-15). The people needed to see:

1)  God is not dependent on our sacrifices (v12).

2) God desires heartfelt worship and thanksgiving ( vv. 14-15) (John

4:24).

(3) The LORD Will Judge Against Mere Profession, without Possession

Text: Psalms 50:16-23

Example: Matthew 25:1-13—Parable of the Ten Virgins

Revelation 20:11-15

*God has Three Indictments against this group:

A.  You Received Not Instruction (v17) (James 1:18-25).

B.  You Lived the Life of A Sinner (v18) (Ephesians 5:1-11).

C.  You Spoke Evil of Others (vv. 19-20) (Ephesians 4:29).

1) Lying (Ephesians 4:25; Proverbs 13:5).

2)  Gossip (Leviticus 19:16; Ephesians 4:31).

3) Slander (Psalms 34:13; 1 Peter 3:10).

CLOSING: God will judge us all one day. The judgment will be fair and just.

What will His Indictment against you be? What Judgment will you

stand in? Friend, You do not have to stand before Him condemned,

lost in your sins. You can stand before Him redeemed if only you

will repent and receive His Son as your Savior (Romans 10:9-10,

13).
