DIRECTOR OF CLUB OPERATIONS

Established in 1932, by Robert Tyre Jones Jr. and Clifford Roberts, Augusta National is consistently recognized as one of the finest clubs in the world. Home of the Masters® the club facilities include a championship golf course, a par three course, three dining rooms, an extensive wine collection and overnight accommodations for members and their guests. This newly created position will report to the Senior Director, Club and Hospitality Operations and assist with the overall management of the lodging operation, food and beverage, locker rooms, transportation, housekeeping, front desk, and fitness. This individual will also assist in facilitating the Masters® tournament including but not limited to all member, player, hospitality and patron services, concessions, including the hiring and training of over 1,200 employees. The position requires a seasoned club or hospitality professional, with a tremendous eye for detail and a strong work ethic. Only those candidates with relative experience in a top tier private club or five star lodging environment will be considered. This truly unique opportunity requires a minimum 15 years of club or hotel management experience. A college degree and CCM designation are also highly preferred. The club is open seven days a week from October through May. During the “off season” planning and preparations are ongoing so this is a year round position. Augusta has a very favorable climate, is in close proximity to Atlanta as well as the ocean and mountains and has one of the lowest costs of living of any city in the country.

  • Must have the experience and passion required to provide service and quality at the absolute highest level.
  • The ideal candidate should be viewed by others as an assertive but humble team member; a leader and authority in his/her respective field or area of expertise.
  • This seasoned club or hospitality professional must have a tremendous eye for detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to develop, articulate and then deliver on all initiatives and goals, with the talent to implement training and mentoring programs that allows monitoring of every single aspect of the service and quality delivery system.
  • Must have a demonstrated track record of truly caring for others, the ideal candidate must possess a “service heart”, which means they not only care about the needs of members and guests but also the wellbeing of their fellow employees, vendors and the community.
  • Must possess a very thorough understanding of luxury housekeeping, culinary, entertainment, and maintenance, transportation and service standards.
  • Ability to oversee a world class wine collection which includes making major purchasing recommendations and decisions. Prior experience procuring wine in the futures market would be desirable.
  • The organizational skill to select and then develop the required systems necessary to manage over 1,000 employees during the Masters Tournament.
  • Responsibility for hiring, discipline and supervision of all Club Operations employees under his/her direction; shall assist in establishing personnel policies, compensation and benefit programs, job descriptions, employee reviews and personnel procedures with Human Resources.
  • Shall annually prepare proposed operating and capital budgets. Once approved it shall be the Director of Club Operations responsibility to manage said budgets within fiscally and ethically sound business practices.
  • In the absence of the Senior Director, Club and Hospitality Operations the candidate will be required to have the knowledge, ability and confidence to oversee the entire Club Operation.
