KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee full HR function, comprising organisational development, employee relations and policy, recruitment, staff training, development and events, reward and benefits, international staffing (incoming and outgoing), HRIS and data management and HR compliance.
  • Develop and deliver strategy and operational plan
  • Line manage HR team and their functions
  • Advise on organisational structures and facilitate organisational change
  • Employment policy proposals and decision making
  • Escalated HR issue management and employee relations matters
  • Oversee in-house recruitment, conduct final interviews
  • Identify and address areas of employment risk
  • Respond to staff and manager queries

ROLE DIMENSIONS
People management:Team of six
Key relationships:Advisory Group and Admin Group, managers and staff, external suppliers, candidates.
Decision making: Day to day HR decisions; employment policies and exemptions; salaries; candidate appointments; policy making
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Clear and demonstrable Christian commitment
  • HR experience at management level
  • Broad working knowledge across the full range of HR functions
  • Detailed knowledge of UK employment law
  • Proven ability to liaise with, support and influence management to senior levels
  • Line management experience
  • CIPD or other HR qualification or equivalent HR experience
  • Able to operate at strategic and operational level
  • Experience in implementation of new working practices or systems
  • Sound business acumen - ability to understand the organisation’s needs and translate them into HR-related action and outcomes
  • Ability to operate within a complex governance structure
  • Financially aware and numerate
  • High capacity and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • Strong organisational skills - ability to manage a varied workload through multi-tasking and project management

DESIRABLE SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Experience working in a Christian organisation or context
  • Knowledge of international staffing
  • Experience of managing and developing a staff in the context of rapid organisational growth
  • Confident public speaking skills
  • Experience as a trainer

  • The role holder must be available to work at a selection of key events at HTB which could include Alpha Leadership Week, Christmas services, Easter services, Annual Parish Church meetings when required
