iii)Match Committee

(1)Region syllabus sent to clubs. Some comments received lead to a couple of minor adjustments and this has also been circulated. Great effort by all concerned

iv)Greens

(1)We had put out a call for help given our lack of numbers in this area. No responses.

(2)There is an annual meeting of greens chairman and inspectors to be held 19/9/2011 at Glen Waverley

v)Umpires

(1)Information session held on 24/7 from 10 am – 4 pm. We had 3 reps in attendance with a couple of other interested parties. The main item we were searching form was to do with accreditation and re-accreditation of umpires - with little time devoted to that topic. We’ll run a tutorial on the topic later September / Early October. The Bowls Vic Umpires Chair has a preference for a tutorial covering 4 sessions. John Roberts and I feel that is overkill – with the majority of umpires calls relating to measuring

vi)Coaching

(1)No action yet

vii)Junior development

(1)I emailed Pauline to get approval to use her contact details to encourage other juniors. Email to be sent to clubs shortly

3General business

i)Betty Collins day - Match Committee will need to select 5 players in a side to represent the region at the NORTH BALWYN BOWLS CLUB, which will host the Betty Collins OAM Challenge Cup to be held on Saturday, 24 March & Sunday, 25 March 2012.

ii)Bowls Vic board member nominations - Received a request that this committee consider Gillian Jolly’s nomination. This is a club matter and the region is not involves in the politics of an state election

iii)Opening days

(1)Have received a few requests – Eltham (Burton), Diamond Creek (Limosani), Kew Heights (Owens), with more likely to come. Some of the opening days will involve presentation of Super Veterans badges. We need to consider using former Bowls Vic Official representatives to assist with our workload.

(2)Moved Graham Down that all directors be appointed as Bowls Vic Official representatives for relevant purposes. Seconded LorraineBurton. Carried

iv)Region uniforms

(1)Need to ascertain whether the pockets on the former Yarra group shirts can be replaced. The shirt has the phrase “Group 11” on the pocket, with the word “Yarra” on the back

(2)It’s likely that we’ll need regions shirts for special ladies events.

(3)Limosani to approach U design (Peter Livy) – sponsor of the of the previously mentioned shirts about these two issues
