JM has represented the Chamber at several events over the last month giving a greater understanding of how Beverley operates.
Represented Chamber on Radio Humberside topics discussed included Tourism in and around Beverley. Possibility of introducing local Wifi hot spots through out Beverley.
It was agreed by all that this could only be a positive move forward for Beverley, especially as a community we are becoming more reliant on devices & new developments planned which will allow customers to move freely through Beverley.
Jm Introduces representatives from Beverley Grammar.
5: Beverley Grammar - Lee Hamshaw-Hart & Edward Vickerman
Beverley Grammar has part of the reason for . The school has had excellent exam results above national average but has recently been assessed under a different criteria and has graded as requires improvement. They are currently working with certain sectors of the school where they have linked individuals with local businesses. This is proving beneficial for both parties, students gain life experience helping them make decisions as to which career path they would like to take.
Local businesses are also being encouraged to visit the school to engage with small groups of individuals to discus careers, experience and possibly offer training.
Students who attend work placement also have the chance of gaining a qualification upon completion of placement.
Tamara, John, Louise, jane and Julian all expressed an interest in speaking at Beverley Grammar and possibly offering work placements where appropriate.
John Benn and Jason Huby expressed interest in taking on a work placement student if it was feasible for them to work 1 day per week on placement.
Also if any members of the chamber attended Beverley Grammar and are now a successful business person please let us know.
