Considering the fundamental principles and norms of the Charter of the United Nations, the Helsinki Act and other international documents which define a state’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as the foundation of international order,
Being convinced that all conflicts in the modern world and within UN member states can and must be solved on the basis of these principles and norms, and striving towards a peaceful, all-encompassing and compromise solution to the issue of Kosovo-Metohija,
Bearing in mind the fact that in line with the decision of the Serbian parliament, and based on the Serbian Constitution, all decisions made by the interim organs of Kosovo-Metohija after the unilaterally declared independence of the province have been declared void and unacceptable for Serbia, including the very declaration of the independence of Kosovo-Metohija,
Affirming all previous resolutions and decisions of the Serbian parliament on Kosovo-Metohija and in addition based on them, the decisions of the government,
Bearing in mind the contents of the opinion of the International Court of Justice,
At an extraordinary session on 26 July 2010, the Serbian parliament adopts the following
Decision on the continuation of Serbia’s activities in the defence of its sovereignty and territorial integrity
1. The Serbian parliament hereby affirms its current policy of the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia conducted on the basis of all previous parliamentary decisions regarding Kosovo-Metohija and requests from the government to resort to all available diplomatic and political means at the disposal of sovereign states, UN members, to implement activities to achieve this goal.
2. The Serbian parliament expresses its full commitment to the achievement of state and political unity regarding the issue of retaining Kosovo-Metohija and affirms that the Republic of Serbia will never,either explicitly or implicitly,recognise the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija.
3. The Serbian parliament believes it is necessary to reach a lasting, sustainable and mutually acceptable solution to the issue of Kosovo-Metohija through peaceful negotiation, in line with the Serbian Constitution, which will enable a historic reconciliation between the Serbian and Albanian people, as well as peace and stability in the region.
4. The Serbian parliament voices its support to the government in the process of submitting a resolution to the UN General Assembly, the adoption of which will open a path for reaching a compromise solution for Kosovo-Metohija through negotiation.
5. The Serbian parliament hereby gives full authority to the government to make all diplomatic efforts in order to have the resolution adopted at the UN General Assembly.
6. This decision shall be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia.
