4. Equipment/Vehicle Issues

a. Truck Update

The truck that Joe Glaze and the City Council

looked at was a cost of $76,000.00. The salesman

now claims he made a mistake and that the price is

$85,500.00. Joe Glaze told him to keep the truck

at that price. Joe Glaze is looking at a second

truck that is a cost of $73,000.00.

Joe Glaze sent the specs down to Towmaster to make

sure that all specs are okay for future plows. The

truck is blue and not red, but the company said

they will paint it for a cost of $2000.00.

Boyer Truck called Joe Glaze and said they would

like to put a price together for the City also;

but, that it would be a little more than $76,000.

Joe Glaze asked how much is a little more and they

said it would be in the low 90,000’s. Joe Glaze

will keep Bill Schulz informed on the truck for

$73,000.00.

5. Road Issues

a. Update Graveling Map

All of the roads that were on the Gravel Plan for

2009 are finished. Maintenance will still gravel

on some of the other roads that are in need of it,

however. The City has approximately 2000 tons of

asphalt and class 5 mixed setting in yard.

Approximately 1200 tons belongs to the City and the

other belongs to private contractor to help with

trucking cost.

b.  Discussion of Grading Dirt Roads

The maintenance personnel has been grading as they were taught in the Grader Training Class.

Bill Schulz, Harlan Meyer and Perry Olson asked why the roads are so washboard one day after grading? Joe Glaze explained the way the Grader Training instructor taught is great for contractor’s because the roads will never get smooth. Joe Glaze feels the washboards need to be cut deep to the bottom of washboards and then packed down.

Joe Glaze said he makes 4 passes cutting deeper then laying it back on both sides of roads. The roads will look flat because it blends altogether and the roads will have 4 to 5 percent crown. As it is now the roads are running 2 to 4 percent.

Bill Schulz and Harlan Meyer both felt that the maintenance should go back to a 4 pass because it would help to get the roads smoother.

6.  Other Issues/Concerns/Updates or Any Resident

Complaints

a.  Perry Olson asked Joe Glaze if he, Eric Madson

and Jeremy Shook all have enough work to get 40

hours in per week? Joe Glaze said there is no

problem getting forty hours in. There is

always work to be done and finding something

that needs to be done is not hard to do at all.

b.  Discussion was brought up regarding speed

limits in housing developments.

It is a State law which allows cities in a

rural residential district where the driveways

to homes are at intervals averaging 300 feet or

less for a distance of a quarter of a mile or

more than the speed limit is 35, otherwise the

speed limit is 55.

8. New Business – No issues

Don Eldridge made the motion to adjourn. David Shook seconded the motion, all in favor; motion carried.

Meeting adjourned @ 8:50 PM
