About Into Film
Into Film is an education charity that puts film at the heart of children and young people’s educational, cultural and personal development.
Over half of UK schools engage with our programme of film clubs, special cinema screenings, and resources and training to support classroom teaching. Alongside rich online content for young audiences, this provides 5-19 year olds with inspiring opportunities to learn about and with film, and develop a passion for cinema.
Role Summary
The Head of Sponsorship and Fundraising is responsible for leading Into Film’s activity to generate revenue from a variety of sources including sponsorship, corporate partnerships, individual donors, trusts and foundations, and through earned income. Building on the core funding from the National Lottery (through the BFI) and from the film industry (exhibition and distribution) the Head of Sponsorship and Fundraising develops relationships with businesses, organisations and individuals from a wide variety of sectors to deliver high value partnerships and support. The role also manages the Development Manager, who is responsible for fundraising from trusts, foundations, charities, public sector, Lottery.
Main Responsibilities:
- Liaising with the CEO and Director of Business Development, strategically lead the creation and successful implementation of an ambitious fundraising strategy that will be brand-led and supported by a broad-based integrated plan.
- Lead on implementing strategies to grow sponsorship, corporate partnerships and earned income across Into Film’s products and programmes by developing compelling new business propositions to achieve income targets.
- Manage and support the fundraising team, and the input of colleagues across the organisation, to achieve income targets from corporate sources, trusts and foundations and individual donors.
- Work with colleagues to exploit income generation activity, particularly through the Into Film Festival and the Into Film Awards.
- Maximise existing relationships and opportunities through exceptional account management, particularly with Into Film’s core funder.
- With the support of the Director of Business Development and Director of Finance, set, monitor and deliver annual fundraising income target.
- Working collaboratively across the organisation, oversee the development of all fundraising and income generation proposals putting Into Film in the strongest position to secure new business.
- With the Director of Business Development, lead on facilitating and directing the efforts of Into Film’s development committee comprising of board members and external supporters.
- Lead on contract negotiation and compliance relating to sponsorship and corporate partnership agreements.
- With the Development Manager, set up fundraising systems including marketing, database management and sales processes.
General Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in the implementation and monitoring of the organisation’s delivery plan alongside other ‘heads of’ teams and the executive team.
- Commitment to quality internally and in all dealings with the public, members, teachers, children and young people, partners, funders, supporters etc.
- Contribute to long term planning to ensure growth in line with demand and resources
- Contribute to the regular monitoring and evaluation of the Into Film’s work

Person Specification:
Essential:
- Extensive experience of fundraising and sponsorship within a cultural, educational or not-for-profit organisation, with a demonstrable track record of achieving financial targets and clear examples of building high value proposals and partnerships from concept to delivery.
- Experience of bringing in and maintaining high level sponsorship and corporate partnerships.
- Proven ability to think creatively in identifying potential projects for investment and matching these with an organisation’s programme and objectives.
- Marketing skills to promote fundraising concepts in line with a very strong brand.
- Confidence and experience working with high profile organisations and individuals.
- Drive, ambition, energy and enthusiasm, and exceptional relationship building and communication skills.
- Experience of working with a board of trustees.
- Knowledge and understanding of the education and/or youth sector and culturally-based projects and interventions.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office for Mac suite
- A love and knowledge of film
- Knowledge and experience of the film industry
