The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Fellowshipat York University is made possible through the sale of the limited edition, The Essential Trudeau, edited by Ron Graham. The award will assist graduate students in the Humanities and Social Sciences with travel costs, subsistence, copying and other related research expenses at archives, libraries and repositories in Canada and abroad.
This award will be made annually to one student in the amount of $3,750. The award must be used during the next twelve-month period (May 2016– April 2017).
Selection will be based on academic excellence and strength of the research project.
Applicants must submit completed applications to their Graduate Program office. Graduate Programs must submit completed applications to the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies by March 2, 2016.

Application Procedure:
Students who have applied for the Fieldwork Costs Fund may use the same supporting documentation for their Trudeau application, which is already at FGS.
Graduate Programs must submit completed applications to Graduate Studies by March 2, 2016. Interested applicants should contact their Graduate Program for the Program’s deadline date.
Eligibility Requirements:
-Applicants must be full-time graduate students;
-Research proposals must be on file with FGS for theses;
-Research proposals must be on file with the graduate program for MRP’s;
-Applicants must have an “A” average;
-Applicants must be undertaking costly field research;
-Can be held in conjunction with the Fieldwork Costs Fund
Selection Criteria:
Selection will be based on academic excellence and strength of the research project. Each graduate program may nominate one application. Final selection will be made by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Awards Committee.
Reimbursement Process:
This award will be made annually to one student in the amount of $3,750. The award must be used during the next twelve- month period (May 2016– April 2017).Field research must be claimed for and taken within the next 3 terms after the deadline (i.e. research trip must be taken prior to April 30, 2016). Applicants will be required to submit original receipts up to the total amount of the award in order to be reimbursed. Claim for Reimbursement of Expenses form ( must be completed and signed. Funding will not normally be advanced prior to the trip. Applicants will be required to submit a brief report on the research activity prior to final reimbursement.
