APPOINTMENTS

All pre-bookable appointments can be made by telephone. We use a scheme called Advanced Access where we are able to offer same day Dr’s and Nurse Prescriber appointments. We also offer on-line access to pre-bookable appointments. If you are unable to attend for your appointment please let us know so that we can offer this to another patient.

TRIAGE APPOINTMENTS

When there are no face to face appointments left for the morning or afternoon and the Patient has asked for an “on the day appointment they will be given a triage appointment. This means the patient will be contacted by telephone by the Duty Doctor and if felt necessary will be given a face to face appointment.

NURSE PRACTITIONER

We have a Nurse Practitioner available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The Nurse Practitioner can deal with all minor ailments, and can prescribe certain medications for example antibiotics.

HOW TO REGISTER AS A PATIENT

If you are new to the area and are wanting to register at our practice, please ask at our reception team for details. Following your registration you will be required to have a new patient check to enable your registration to be fully complete. An appointment will be offered with either a GP if you are on regular medication or our Health Care Assistant during your registration.

HOME VISITS

Home visits should only be requested for those who are unable to come to the Surgery because of serious illness and infirmity. They should be requested before 11:00 a.m. if at all possible.

Requests for visits after afternoon surgery will be taken by the Duty Doctor.

We offer telephone consultation appointments, if you feel you don’t need a face to face appointment then please telephone the reception

Monday – Friday after 8.30 a.m

PRESCRIPTIONS

We do not take prescription requests over the telephone unless there are special circumstances. Prescriptions will be available 48 hours following the request. Should there be a query on the prescription or a Bank Holiday this will take longer.

CHAPERONES

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation. Please request this at the time of booking or speak to your GP.

OUT OF HOURS

If you have an urgent problem when the surgery is closed please attend your local walk-in-centre at Eastham Clinic. If Xrays are required you can visit the walk-in-centre at VCH or Arrowe Park.

Otherwise please ring NHS GP Out of Hours on 111. Calls to this number are free on mobiles and landlines.

DISABLED ACCESS

Automatic Front Door Access suitable for wheelchairs. Disabled toilets in the waiting room, and a lift to the upper floor where the nursing staff are situated.
TEACHING & RESEARCH

As a teaching Practice, we have registrars who are qualified doctors and they run a surgery as such. Also we have medical students who spend part of their time observing Dr McLaren and Dr Brocki.

We would value your co-operation with both of these, but we understand if you do not want to be involved.

DATA PROTECTION

All information held about patients is completely confidential. The Practice is registered under the Data Protection Act 1984. This Act protects data held on the computer system.
