A RESOLUTION honoring the DuPont Manual Girl's Basketball team upon winning the Girls' 7th Region Basketball Championship.

WHEREAS, the DuPont Manual Girls' Basketball team had amassed a 22-8 record heading into their 7th Region Championship matchup with Assumption; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Crimsons of DuPont Manual found themselves without their head coach, Stacy Pendleton, leaving Assistant Coach Tim Holman to coach the Lady Crimsons in the 7th Region Championship with a berth in the Kentucky High School Athletics Association Girls' Sweet 16 Basketball Tournament on the line; and

WHEREAS, DuPont Manual had spent the entire season ranked near the top of every poll and had amassed a 22-8 record heading into the 7th Region Championship game; and

WHEREAS, despite this adversity faced in this crucial moment of the tournament, with the Lady Crimsons being without their head coach, they relied on the steadying hand of Assistant Coach Tim Holman; and

WHEREAS, the DuPont Manual Girls' Basketball team was able to pull out the victory because of the work ethic and values instilled in them by a talented coaching staff. Assistant Coach Tim Holman was able to guide the Lady Crimsons to a 65-43 victory over a talented and scrappy Assumption team while earning the Lady Crimsons a berth in the KHSAA Girls' Sweet 16 and a chance to return again to the KHSAA Girls' Sweet 16 Championship game;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate does hereby honor and congratulate the DuPont Manual Girls' Basketball team upon the occasion of winning the 7th Region Championship game.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and recognition of the DuPont Manual Girls' Basketball team.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Denise Harper Angel, 702 Capital Avenue, Annex Room 229, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.
