- The wall width should be at least 4 to 6 meters
- The bed sheets should touch the ground level completely.
- Use clothes clips to hold the sheets together and seal any visible gaps.
- On one side of the wall, make a square considering the wall as one of its sides i.e. if the virtual wall is 18 feet wide then, the square will be of 18 x 18 feet.
- On the other side of the wall make a semi circle taking the wall as its diameter.
- Mark them with the rope or draw in dirt.
- Teacher watches to see who gets ‘hit’ by hail and make sure they sit down. Also responsible for counting who is left in square after the sponges are exhausted.
- Make two teams and let them take their sides opposite to each other.
- Both the teams must stay within their boundaries.
- Give a large bucket full of water with lots of soaked sponge balls in it to the side standing on the semi circle side of the wall.
- The game starts with the score keeper yelling “Hail Storm!”
- The kids on the semi circle side will start tossing the sponge balls and other stuff over the other side of the wall, one by one or simultaneously.
- The kids on the other side of the wall (square side) must run around within the square to try and avoid all the showering items.
- Once ‘hit’ by a sponge, the students have to sit down away from playing area!
- This will continue till all the wet sponges have been used up by the throwing team.
- The ones left untouched are counted by the teacher.
- Teams will change sides and other side will now get the chance to do avoid hail.
- Once both the side’s turn is over, teacher will compare which team has least people in square at the end and that team wins!
After the game reiterate the fact that hail can be dangerous, will hurt and should be avoided by getting under cover as quickly as possible!
