Singular Possessive Nouns
A singular possessive noun shows ownership by one person or thing.
Add an apostrophe (’) and an s to most singular nouns to form a possessive noun.
Ex)
Rita went to the office belonging to the dentist.
Rita went to the dentist’s office.
the teeth of a person a person’s teeth
the toy of the child the child’s toy

Plural Possessive Nouns
A plural possessive noun shows ownership by more than one person, place, or thing.
Add only an apostrophe (’) to a plural noun that ends with an s.
Ex)
The students’ eyesight will be checked by the nurse.
The girls’ parties are on the same day.

students’ homework
