RELATIVE CLAUSES
Relative pronoun – necessary or not?
Decide whether the relative pronouns must be used or not.
1.- A calendar is something which tells you the date.

Relative pronouns (who / which / whose).
- This is the bank ______was robbed yesterday.

- He came with a friend ______waited outside in the car.
- The woman ______gave him the money was young.
- The bag ______contained the money was yellow.
Choose the correct relative pronoun or relative adverb.
- The woman ______is sitting at the desk is Mr Winter’s secretary.
- I cannot remember the reason ______he wanted us to leave.
- Jane, ______mother is a physician, is very good at biology.
- She didn’t see the snake ______was lying on the ground.
- Do you know the shop ______Andrew picked me up?
- The letter ______I received yesterday was from my Italian friend.
Join these pairs of sentences using a relative clause.
- There’s a woman. She found my wallet.
- I saw the film. She recommended it to me.
- There are the policemen. They caught the burglars.
- That’s the friend. I met him last summer.
- This is the park. I used to play here when I was little.
- Where is the boy? He was here a minute ago.
- That was the day. We had a party.
Combine the sentences using a relative clause. Use relative pronouns only where necessary. Note that have to use commas in some of the sentences.
A holiday in Scotland
1.- We spent our holiday in Scotland last year. Scotland is in the north of Great Britain.

My greasy neighbour stinks of after-shave. My greasy neighbour is a bus driver.
