NUES Professional Development Program Information
2011-12
Program Information:
NUES in partnership with Southern Utah University is coordinating professional development opportunities for teachers in the NUES region. Three educator endorsements and a Master’s degree program are being offered during the 2011-12 school year.
Educator Endorsement Program:
- Elementary Math:
- Fall 2011: completing the 2010 program (two courses) beginning Thursday, August 25, 2011 and concluding December, 2011. Cost - $150 per course.
- Spring 2012: Starting a new program (six courses) beginning January, 2012 and concluding May, 2013. Cost - $150 per course.
- All courses are offered one night a week from 4:30-9:30 PM on Thursday nights.
- English as a Second Language (ESL):
- Fall 2011: Park City School District is coordinating an ESL endorsement (six courses) cohort beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2011 and concluding June 2012. Cost - $165 per course.
- All courses are offered one night a week from 4:30-8:30 PM on Tuesday nights.
- Reading Level I:
- Fall 2011: completing the 2010 program (two courses) beginning Wednesday, August 24, 2011 and concluding December, 2011. Cost - $125 per course.
- Spring 2012: Starting a new program (seven courses) beginning January, 2012 and concluding May, 2013. Cost - $150 per course.
- All courses are offered one night a week from 4:30-9:30 PM on Wednesday nights.
- Program Information:
- All courses are delivered over the UEN IVC system to district IVC sites in your local area.

Master’s Degree Program:
- Program Information:
- The Master’s degree program will begin January, 2012.
- There are 24 credits (8 classes) required for the program provided you have completed an educator endorsement that includes 12 or more credits. The total number of credits for the degree is 36 credits, 12 of which are elective credit that is earned in an endorsement program.
- Students can choose between a thesis or portfolio option.
- Two courses will be offered per semester.
- Courses will be offered on Monday and Tuesday nights.
- Courses are hybrid courses and will meet only 4 times in person per semester. The remainder of the course will be delivered on-line.
- Cost will be based on the regular SUU graduate tuition schedule. The cost for 6 credits (two courses) based on the 2011-12 tuition schedule is $1,683 (roughly $280 per credit)
- The Course Schedule is as follows:
- Spring 2012: EDUC 6000 & EDUC 6410
- Summer 2012: EDUC 6030 & EDUC 6910
- Fall 2012: EDUC 6650 or 6652* & EDUC 6010
- Spring 2013: Work on Thesis or Portfolio
- Summer 2013: EDUC 6933 or 6932* & 6740
- * EDUC 6650 & 6933 are the thesis option courses and EDUC 6652 & 6932 are the portfolio courses.
