The Swiss Society of Pediatric Surgery Travelling Fellowship

The Swiss Society of Pediatric Surgery offers Travelling Fellowships of up to CHF 2’000.-, or currency equivalent, to fellows who are enrolled in a training program for pediatric surgery in one of the Swiss Clinics. One or two fellowships with a total sum of CHF 2000 can be awarded per calendar year. These are designed to offset the cost of travel and other expenses when going abroad.There is no restriction on nationality of the applicant.

Applicability

Applicants have to be in training for pediatric surgery and not have completed their specialization yet. Their training program must be validated by one of the recognized Swiss training centers, with clear aims and reasons for their visit to a foreign clinic, where they should progress in their clinical or research skills.

Each application will be judged on the excellence of the candidate, as well asthe importance and innovative quality of his/her work abroad. Decisions of attribution are taken by the committee of the Swiss Society of Pediatric Surgery and are not subject to discussion.

Deadline for application

Yearly deadline datefor applications is 1 month before the annual meeting of the Swiss Society of Pediatric Surgery.

The society’s committee will take the decision to award 1-2 applicant(s) the sum of CHF 2000.- if 1 awardee, or CHP 1000.- if 2 awardees. The decision will be communicated at the annual meeting of the society, where the candidate will have to present himself, his plans and projects. If the applicant is successful, the society’s secretary or treasurer will contact him/her, to arrange direct transfer of the awarded sum to his/her personal bank account.

Successful applicant

If an award is granted and once the fellowship completed, the applicant is required to:

(a)  Provide the appropriate receipts

(b)  Write a summary (max 250 words) to be published on the website, and a progress report (max 1000 words) to be sent to the committee.
