JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title:Loan Processing Specialist
Core Area:Housing Improvements
Department:Single Family Rehab Program
Reports to:Single Family Rehab Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Time Classification:Full Time
Position Summary: Responsible for providing support for loan processing, closing, and securitization for mortgage lending.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares loan documents, assists with loan closing procedures, filing of loan documentation, payment procedures and security instruments, provides data entry, and communication with accounting staff.
- Keeps original loan files, electronic files and databases accurate, up-to-date and in compliance with program guidelines. Enters data, generates reports.
- Completes a variety of reports, primarily in electronic format. Gathers information from a variety of sources, including spreadsheets, databases, and internet sites.
- Tracks deadlines, reporting requirements, and similar work in order to ensure timeliness and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Works with coworkers and volunteers to promote a positive, respectful, and productive working environment, while protecting client confidentiality and dignity.
- Completes assigned projects and performs related duties as needed or situation dictates.
- Conducts follow up and evaluation services for the SFR program.
- Completes required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, maintains accurate and comprehensive program records, and develops statistical information and reports as needed to analyze and document outcomes.
- Enters data into database; compiles and completes records and reports, and maintains paperwork for files within program guidelines.
- Screens clients requesting Single Family Rehab services ensuring completion of required intake information including program eligibility.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Required: High School or GED and at least eight years of experience in a loan or real estate related field required
- Preferred: BS degree with six years’ experience in a banking or loan processing. Experience with construction loans or having a construction background.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income and vulnerable people, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information
- Ability to accurately and thoroughly follow complex credit and lending laws, and detailed procedural and documentation requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in and solid knowledge of office operations including document preparation, workflow coordination, filing and other systems, equipment, and conventions
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and personal interaction skills, with emphasis on working with a diverse population and in a team environment
- Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, email, data entry and query (CAPSys and CALYX loan software preferred), and internet applications.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, with ability to work well independently, with or without supervision, and ensure workflow is appropriately addressed in a timely manner
- Ability to gather and research information and prepare documents clearly and concisely
- Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
Work is performed in an office environment and is generally sedentary. Some local travel to other offices and facilities will be required.
